Jane's POV
I picked up a hand mirror that caught my eye in an alley on my way home. It looks so old but very elegant, but I see no reflection of myself but instead a ceiling that's high compare to a normal house I know.
"Hello?" I said, but no one answer. A magic mirror huh? It's nice to pick out something like this in an alley. I've got a weird feeling about this, but I shrug it off and put it in my purse.
I walk towards home after a long day from the store, a potion store to be exact. We sell potion to help the hunters gain their Magic Powers and Health back. But we're not popular and sales are not great cause we sell only low class and cheap potions. The effect is not the same on high-quality potion but our product is good for beginners and hunters who don't have many coins. But other than that, I also have healing magic but then again the high-quality potion is more effective than my magic. I also have water magic, but can't control it properly as I don't have any teacher that can teach me how to properly use it.
"Hey Jane, I saw your father heading to your house. Thought you just need to know." Ms. Mariah, the farmer lady, warn me. I bow to her and then immediately run towards our house. My father, Jason Taylor, that drunkard bastard who only know us whenever he needed money. That's why my mother is sick, he beat the out of her, and now couldn't stand and weak.
Our shop is usually a 1 to 2-hour walk from our home, but now I need to rush because of him again. I run as fast as I could so I can get there the soonest as I can.
It takes me one hour running, and I see him beating my younger brother, Jax Taylor. I pick up a rock and throw as hard as I can, aiming at Jason.
"You b***h! Come here immediately or I will kill you" He said angrily at me. I almost laughed because his snot runs out to his nose but he quickly wipes it. I get the money that I earned today at the shop and when I'm almost at him I throw it to his face.
"Get out of here, that's all I earned today. Some people from the guild are on their way now. If you don't want to go to jail, better hurry pick that up and scram!" I said with serious intent on my face. He looks at me and I can see the anger and hatred in his eyes but he sighs then pick up the money I throw at him then left without saying anything. I face my brother and look at all the bruises he gets on that bastard.
"Are you okay, Jax? Did he gets inside the house to see mother?" I ask nonstop to him, but he smiles at me and gets inside our house.
"I'm okay Jane, and nope he didn't get to come inside because of you." Then laugh softly. I shake my head and sit down on the couch.
"Come here," I said, as I pat the couch beside me signaling him so he can sit here. He did what I say and sit down, I place my hands on his shoulder and chant my healing spell and healed him. "All good."
"Thank you, sis, I am grateful that you are here with us. I'm sorry if I am a burden to you, I should be helping you earn some coin for us to survive and so you can focus on creating potions." He said calmly but I notice he's almost crying. I pat his head and mess his hair as I smile.
"Anything for my little brother. You're a big help to me for protecting and taking care of our mother. So don't feel down and just know that you are one of my strengths and you don't have time to feel like this, okay?" I comfort him, he wipes his tears and hugged me. I laugh and mess his hair before standing up and go to my mom's room.
"Hey mom, are you awake?" I ask quietly that I almost whisper while peeking at the door to see if she's sleeping.
"Why do you always whisper when you ask me that?" She said chuckling. I enter her room and sit in the chair near her bed.
"Did you just woke up?" I ask, wanting to know if she heard Jason beat Jax again.
"Yes, can you tell Jax I want some soup?" She said smilingly. I nodded and told Jax to cook some soup for her and goes back to her room.
"Anyway, just want to check up on you. How are you feeling?" I asked while fixing her bedsheet and remove the withered flowers in her room.
"I'm okay darlin'." She said as she watched me fixed her room. I smile and continue to make her room brighten up as much as possible. "I'm sorry if I'm like this, I should be the one taking care of both of you."
I look at her and sit down on her bed. "It's okay mom. When I completely healed you, you have lots of time to make amends to both of us. We miss being taken care of too, so all you have to do is take care of yourself more and focus on resting. Okay?"
She chuckles after she heard what I said, "Yes, mom."
I shook my head while laughing, and leave her room and enter my room. I can clean my mom's room, but mine is a mess. All the books, and research papers that I need to read and study to help me make the best healing potion that can cure my mother is scattered all over in this room.
I lock the door, put away my bag, and sit down in my bed as I get more frustrated as I scan the room. I am getting so tired of that bastard, I need to do something to make him stop going here and harassing us, or else I can't save coins for our daily need and ingredients for mother's potion.
"Why do I need to experience this?!" I get up in my bed and open my door, but I see Jax just sitting on the sofa quietly. So I lock my room and sit on my bed, where's that sound come from?
"Why me?" A cry of a lady echoed to my room, as I remember the magic mirror I pick up earlier. I get it from my bag and look at the ceiling again, but the sound of crying is coming from here.
"Are you okay?" I ask, the crying stop and I heard a footstep as if the person is searching for me.
"Hey, I'm here!" I said as I see who's behind the mirror. A blonde gorgeous woman.
