Chapter 1It was a beautiful Sunday in August. The sky was blue, the temperature was in the low eighties, and a light breeze rippled through the tiger lilies, the Virginia Bluebells, and the glads that bordered our backyard. Best of all, I had the weekend off. That wasn’t to say I was lounging around, sucking down mint juleps and working on my tan. The grass in our backyard had a tendency to run wild if I didn’t keep it mowed, so that was how I was spending this day. Clippings filled the bag behind the gas mower, and I planned to use them as mulch for the small garden I’d turned over for Theo.
