Estrilda’s POV
I rose from my hunched over position on the floor. Rising by siblings before being pushed back down into a bow by the guards behind me. I huff out in annoyance and look over to my favored brother Aldwin. He was the oldest of us and the rowdiest of us he never knew when to stop talking or in general when to stop. Although we all looked strikingly alike with our brown hair and blue eyes him and I matched on a stronger semblance in the structure of our faces and bodies. We were both slim and muscular, both tall and quick. Although he had a sharper jaw line and a thicker nose than I did. His hair was shaved and well kept, while mine was shoulder length and looked like someone had blindly cut and hoped it was correct.
I held his gaze before peaking up to look at the Queen. But my eyes narrowed at the large Fae beside her. His white hair was cut short on the sides and a little floof up top.His eyes shimmered a deep purple like most Fae males, but they held an ancient grief in his eyes that pulled me too him. His body was strong and muscular like you would expect a warrior to have and he held himself as such. As I examined him almost as if sensing my gaze his eyes flash over to me, I flinch and quickly drop my gaze avoiding the male’s eyes narrowly avoiding the haunted gaze. My eyes, having dropped from his face focused on his inked hands. Lovely tattooed features caress his skin climbing up his arms. They were more patterns than anything recognizable. Unlike the tattoos that marred my skin hidden under my cloak. I peeked back up at the Fae to find his gaze focused upon me inspecting me as thoroughly as I had him. When he caught me glance up at him he fired a smirk at me.
I looked over to Aldwin and grasped his hand and gave it a squeeze hoping it would give me the strength to face the situation. I looked further to the left my eyes focusing on my sister Daeda grinned wickedly form her spot on the floor. Past her were the twins Maddox and Malora the clutched at each other’s hands their hands shaking uncontrollably. Daeda stood pushing up from her position on the floor. She curtsied deeply before standing poised and strong. “Your majesty, I deeply apologize for the inconvenience we brought to you and your people. We had only hoped to protect the innocent. In our endeavors we may have been faulty in our thinking. Your majesty.” She spoke sweetly and polite.
“Daeda, quit with the boot licking. Are you ashamed of our actions? Or apologizing for getting caught. Honesty above poise.” Said Aldwin. My siblings echo back the word Honesty. I sit silently observing the scene, my hand wrapped firmly around Aldwin’s. One of the Fae males step in front of Aldwin, pulling his foot back to kick him down. Aldwin smirks and blinks out of vision. The males foot kicks thin air and fall face forward.
The Queen smiles a thick smile, showing her teeth “My, my it seems that we have gifted humans. What a treat.”
Terrowin’s POV
I stared at the space the boy had previously occupied and watched my companion, Boon, fall on his ass. Forrester on the other side of the siblings erupted in deep laughter. A small smile found it’s way to my face. The boy Aldwin appeared on the other side of the girl who had locked eyes with me. “So,do you all have the ability to blink like your brother, Aldwin was it?” The Queen asked coolly. The sweet-talking sister stepped forward. “Our talents are our own. We each have our strengths. Diplomacy clearly isn’t my brothers. Deepest apologies Majesty.” She spoke smoothly.
“So? You all carry different talents? Maybe we could cut a bargain?” Said the Queen. I stiffen at my Queen’s words. A deal with her was never safe. “I will give you proper training and all I ask in return is that later you think about possibly joining me and my team. All you have to do is consider. If you decide against it later I will let you free.” The Queen said. The girl spoke again. “And If we politely decline?” The Queen’s smile deepens into a wickeder gleam “It would be a shame to put you criminals to death, wouldn’t it?” I saw the two siblings that clutched to each other gasp and hold each other tighter.
The mouthy brother, Aldwin grimaced. “I guess you leave us no choice. Although I would like to state I’m not happy about this.” Boon stomped over grasping the Aldwin’s shoulder before tossing him down beside the cloaked girl. He gave a snarling grin. “Noted” he flashed his teeth at the boy. The Queen Glanced down at the pitiful figures. “Stand up.” She barked out. “I will assign one of my personal guards to each of you to help train. I will pull in another expert for the last member of your group.” The Queen said giving a look to the five siblings.
The Girl spoke “Your majesty, that wont be necessary. The twins work together and refuse to be apart.” She waved one graceful hand in the direction of the two siblings clutching each other. “My name is Daeda.” She looked pointedly at the oldest boy. “My name is Aldwin.” He growled out. The Twins stood still clutching each other. The female of the pair rose her eyes trained on the floor. “I am Malora and this is my twin Maddox. Please do not separate us. We are not useful by ourselves.” The girl whispered out. The Queen nods her head in consideration. “The two of you will be trained as one” She agreed. ”And what of the last sibling?” She asks. Aldwin helps the girl stand “This is our youngest sister Estrilda. She doesn’t talk much.” She narrowed her eyes on me finely meeting my gaze unflinchingly. A newfound courage in her blue eyes, a darker blue than her siblings, I had hoped she would remove the hood so I could look more closely at her face, but with the hood in the way her features weren't clear.
The Queen stands and smooths out the skirt of her dress. “Decide among yourselves who trains who. Keep your charges safe and get them trained.” She turns to walk away. In my head I hear my Queen send her order to her newly appointed trainers I Want weekly updates on each of the siblings. I want control over them and their gifts. Humans like these could be a problem if we cant gain control over them. We nod at her silent order.
Aldwin steps forward, “Your Majesty? If I may ask do you have any female trainers? Trilla fears men.” He asks in a kinder tone than he had been using earlier. My eyes flicked over to the girl. Afraid of men? I soften my gaze at her in hopes to make her comfortable. The Queen glances back “Not my problem young man. She will deal with what I have allotted.” She says before leaving the room.
