Naia came awake with a jerk and fought against the last shrouds of drug-induced sleep. She was lying on a narrow bed inside what appeared to be a part of the ship’s sick bay she hadn’t seen before, and wasn’t familiar with. A more cautious examination revealed she was actually on the top bunk of a two-tiered bunkbed. This had to be where patients were kept while they recuperated. With some effort, she managed to lower the bed rail and swing her legs over the side until she was sitting up.
