The Baby Project

Chapter 2

Everyone watches Mr. Allen as if he grows an extra head.

"Yes a baby project you and your partner will have to take care of a baby doll for the rest of the semester, this will teach you not only responsibilities but also why you don't encourage teenage pregnancy", Mr. Allen explains.

Matthew raises his hand, "yes Mr. West?"

"Can our parents help?"

"No, you and your partner have to do this on your own."

"Can we choose our partner?" He asks.

"No all the girls will pick a paper from this bag", he shows us the bag.

"Aw man."

"I hope you pick me", Asher whispers.

At least Mason isn't in this class or Gloria.

"Alright I'm coming around", Mr. Allen says.

I put my hand down in the bag and shake it around for a while then take out a paper, I read it, Alec Saunders

Seriously? Although I don't mind.

"Looks like I got you Asher", Crystal says.

I put on a fake smile, "that's nice."

"Yeah", she nods.

Asher didn't look happy though.

"You okay?" I ask and he nods.

"I got Matthew", Ally says.

"See we are meant to be", Matt says.

"Sorry but I already got a boyfriend", she replies.

"I got Sam", Claire says, she's sitting way in the back.

"Can you ex-"

"Hell no I'm doing this with my ex", Matt grumbles.

Crystal nudges me, "I thought he was with you, I saw him winked earlier."

I laugh," he's my brother, I have another brother that looks like him, we're triplets", I explain.

"Oh."

"Alright people go sit next to your partners", Mr. Allen orders.

I got up and went over to Alec who is smiling like he just won a million bucks.

Ally is grumbling behind me and she's glaring at Claire who's sitting beside Sam who's next to her.

"Alright everyone, here's your doll now remember you can't leave in unattended you must bring it back here every morning and collect it after school or practice", Mr. Allen reminds us as he passes out the live looking dolls.

"It got my eyes", Alec says to me, "this is truly our kid, maybe it will look like that in the future too", he grins and I roll my eyes.

"Please like I would date you", I scoff.

"You will reconsider it, Mia, I just know", he whispers.

"So who's babysitting later?" I ask.

"You, I have things to do later", he shrugs and I grumble.

"Also babies aren't for parties so please don't carry the doll, but if you got no choice then make sure you supervise", Mr. Allen adds.

"Matt you're babysitting, Sam and I have a date later", Ally says to Matt who's holding the doll upside down and shaking it.

"Sure it's not like I'm going to be doing anything later", Matt rolls his eyes.

"Sorry Alyssa, but Sam will be busy helping me with this project", Claire declares.

"We're having that date even if the baby has to come with us", Ally hisses.

"Alright people you can argue over who watching what when you leave", Mr. Allen says.

The bell rings and we all get up with our bags," so here's my number in case you need me to babysit when you're busy", I see Crystal handing Asher a piece of paper.

Ally shoots me a smirk then Sam places his arm around her waist, "we'll see you at lunch Mia", she says and leaves.

"Let's go meet Mason at our next class Mia", Matt swings his arm over my shoulder.

"Wait for me", Asher comes to my other side and link my arm with his. I smile up at him and we all leave.

"Can you believe that stupid project and I got paired up with a nerd", Gloria whispers and I laugh.

"Sucks to be you", Ally chuckles and she glares at her.

"Yeah well Claire is paired up with Sam, so", Gloria shoots back and that shut up Ally.

"Sorry we're late", Alec says sliding his tray on the long table and sitting next to Gloria.

"We got a little held back", Derek adds winking at a blonde hair girl who walks past the table. She turns red and giggles.

"Not my business", Ally files her nails and Sam sits next to her giving her a peck on the side of her lip.

"So Ash, when are you going to meet up with Crystal?" Gloria asks turning her head to Asher who sits next to me.

"Who's Crystal?" Derek questions.

"His partner for the project", Ally grins.

"Is she hot?" Mason ask.

"I call dibs on her already", Matt says.

"Since when?" Asher and I ask in unison.

"Since I laid eyes on her when she entered the class, you got to give me her number buddy", Matt requests.

"Sure knock yourself out, it's not like I'll be calling her anytime soon", Asher passes him his phone and Matthew smiles.

I see Crystal comes in with two other girls, they got lunch and take a half-empty table. She looks over at our table then turn back to her new friends.

"I don't trust that girl", Gloria whispers.

Me neither, I don't want her getting to close to Asher.

I eat my sandwich and drink my diet coke then Ally takes a selfie with Alec.

"So Derek when are you taking me out on that date?" Claire asks coming up to our table hand on her waist.

He chokes, "w- what?"

"Our date remember?" She rolls her light gray eyes.

"When will that be happening February 30th or December 35th?" He frowns and we laugh.

She scoffs and storms off pushing a guy glasses in the process.

"How could you stand her man?" Derek asks Matt.

"I just agreed with her and got used to her bitchy ways", he shrugs in reply.

"H- hi Gloria", a guy with dark brown hair and wearing glasses says.

Gloria sighs, "yes Micheal."

"Um. I was thinking that I'll take the doll later and-"

"Sure no problem", he cuts him off checking out her nails.

"Oh okay then, see you tomorrow", he leaves quickly.

"Gloria be nicer, he looked like he was about to crap his pants", Asher chuckles.

"I am nice", she scoffs.

"Could have fooled me", Asher whispers to me and I laugh.

"So tryouts later Mia?" A girl asks me who's on the squad.

"Yeah", I nod and turn to Ally who nods as well," in the gym", I add.

"Cool", she smiles, "hey Matt", she giggles and leaves.

"She's so into you", Alec nudges him.

"Yeah because we hooked up at a party once", Matt smirks and I roll my eyes.

"Alright ladies listen up here's the list of girls that wants to try out", Mrs. Smith hands me the list.

"Crystal wants to try out too?" Ally frowns pointing at her name.

Oh.

Ally, Gloria and I sit down behind the table and wait for the girls to come out.

Crystal comes out in thin strap top and a skirt, her hair in two ponytails.

"First on the list, give me three backflips, two front flips, and a split", Ally orders.

The first girl with short brown hair did great flips, but her split was off.

"Next", Gloria waves her off and she runs out crying.

"If they know they can't stand being rejected why come", she sighs.

"Next", I shout.

A blonde hair blowing a piece of bubble gum, step forward.

"Can I show you what I been working on?" She asks.

"Sure, why not", I shrug, leaning back.

She did some flips and a perfect split.

We all clap and she bows.

"She's good", Ally whispers and I nod.

Twenty minutes later

Crystal comes in front of us.

"Triple back flap, double front flip, a backflip, a shake hip and then a split", Gloria smirks and my mouth falls open.

She didn't?

Crystal nods and did it all. Gloria scoffs and crosses her arms.

"That was great", I say to her then write down the points beside her name and she skips off.

"So coach this is who made the time", I hand her the list.

"The one with the glasses too?"

"Yep she's really good", I assure her.

"Okay, well that's all for today girls", coach dismiss us.

"So babe how was practice?" Alec swings his arm over my shoulder.

"For the million times Alec, we're not dating so stop calling me that", I look at him sternly.

"Saunders, what I told you about harassing my sister?" Matt snaps pulling him away from me.

"Not to harass her when she ignores me", he answers, "but I don't take orders from you", he grins.

Iif I e-"

"I can handle myself, Matt why don't you and Alec go get the dolls and I'll meet you in the parking lot, okay?" I suggest and leave them.

When I reach out front, I see Asher and Crystal talking, then she takes the doll says something and leaves.

"You can help me babysit then", I say and he turns around.

"I don't mind, besides it's our movie night tonight", he grins.

"Hell yeah", I put my fist in the air.

"What do you mean we can't go on the date tonight?!" Ally shrieks and I turn around.

"My mother wants to have dinner with me tonight plus I ha-"

"Forget it", she cuts him off and storms off to where Derek is waiting by his jeep for her.

Sam sighs and kicks the empty can.

"I'll go talk to him", Asher pats my shoulder.

"Here's your doll", Matt throws my doll at me, as Alec goes to his bike and leaves.

"Where's Mason?"

Matt sighs," he always late."

Asher returns," he'll be fine, his mother just wants some son and mother time", he explains.

"I'll talk to Ally, she can be a drama queen sometimes"

"True, I don't know how Sam does it", Asher shakes his head.

Also, I have to text my sister and tell her how my day went and ask how her last year in college is going, she maybe in the hospital now since its nursing she's doing.
