Lacey's PO
I'm ashamed of what happened earlier, but I expected that. I know he will treat me like that. I simply carried out Shaira's advice. I've never done anything like this before in my life. It's an awful feeling. I assumed that the guys who pursued me felt the same way, but why did I ignore them? But they are men; maybe rejections don't diminish their masculinity, unless not all the time.
I checked the time. Unfortunately, it's eleven o'clock at night, and I'm still awake. I've been lying down for a long time now, but I can't seem to fall asleep. I took my cell phone from the nightstand. I looked at my f*******: account. There are a lot of notifications, especially for friend requests.
God! What should I do next? If nothing good happens to us this year, I will still not give up. It's entirely up to him. That's true, or I'll cross the bridge when we get there.
The next morning, Shai approached me in the canteen. I didn't have breakfast earlier, so I had breakfast there. The food looks delicious and clean. That is what is really important to me. I am not choosy; even if others say so, I am. I have been used to it since Shai and I became friends. That's one of the things I learned from her.
"Hey, gurl, I heard something!" she exclaimed as she chewed the burger she had eaten.
"What should I expect?" I asked, shrugging.
"Excellent work!" Do you believe "The Flash" has hastened your movements? "If I were Kurt, I'd marry you right away," she remarked and laughed so hard, holding her chest.
"Well, you aren't Kurt."
"Talking of the devil," she grumbled behind me.
I shifted my weight slightly. Kurt's group, which had just arrived, was visible in the distance. They were occupied with rearranging their seats. Do they come every day? If that's the case, perhaps I'll be back here more regularly.
I simply shifted my position for a chance to see him from where I was seated. Shai seemed to grasp what I was doing.
I've observed Kurt's treatment of his buddies. They are laughing, and the talk appears to be fun. I tend to shift my focus to where they are. Until one of his peers noticed me. He shifted his gaze between Kurt and back at me. He looked like he was saying something to Kurt that stipulated to him to look our way. I smiled and raised my right hand slightly to say hello, but it was left hanging in the air.
Shai and I looked at each other. I could see the annoyance on my friend's face.
"Yuck! Who the hell is he? hmmph!" Shai said, annoyed.
"No, maybe he's just not in the mood. Maybe he has his monthly period?" I jokingly answered as I looked back at them.
"Oh, you're still defending that impatience, and if I can't stop myself, I'll show him the list of your lovers, alas! What now? Game?” Shai demanded.
"Hey fool, relax. I will play his game. You'll see." I opted to tell Shai those assurances to calm her down.
Carl arrived. One of my most passionate suitors... He has been flirting with me for a long time, but I have already told him that I really only consider him a friend because our parents have been partners in business for a long time.
"What's up? You're just here." He sat next to me. With the loudness of his voice, I made sure that the people eating there were looking at him. Well, apart from being famous, he’s an MVP in basketball and twice in a row. That's why he’s a bit full of arrogance.
"Why are you here?" I asked Carl.
"Why? Am I not allowed? Will someone get angry?" he asked, looking at Kurt's direction.
"No, just slight," Shai answered teasingly.
"You're not coming to me?" Carl turned back to me.
"So, what did you just ask? Well, I guess I’m not allowed to go with you because someone will get angry, " I repeated what he said earlier.
He pinched my cheek. "You're really beautiful when you're angry," It said bitterly.
"And too beautiful to be a stalker," Shai added indifferently and really meant to raise her voice.
"Who's the stalker?" Carl asked Shai.
I looked at Kurt's group. I made sure they heard what Shai said. It looks like they are about to finish. I don't know if they have heard our conversation.
I'm thinking about what I should do next. I'm having a bit of a hard time. I know now. Can I be friends with Sheena? That sounds like a good idea... I know Sheena doesn't like me. Maybe because Kurt is his cousin.
"You're done? Let's go?” Shai asked me.
"Alright, let's go." I stood up. "You, where are you up to?" I turned to ask Carl.
"After you, ladies," he said, extending his hand to the path.
I don't want to. It's just that Shai is leaving. We passed by Kurt's table. His other colleagues looked at me. I gave them my sweetest smile, but they ignored it and just looked away. What would Kurt have said to them? Did he warn them to ignore her too? If they weren't really his friends, they would have tasted insults from me for a long time. Well, is it because I'm so beautiful that they don't like me either?
"Come on, it's almost time." I still heard Sheena say to Kurt’s circle. If they had already stood up, they would probably be just behind us, so I slowed down my pace. I noticed that the strap on one of my shoes was uneven, so I bent down to fix it when I bumped into someone from behind.
"Oops! Sorry" said Kurt.
I stood up immediately. I was very surprised. I really thought that what I did would work. I don't think I did that on purpose. I saw Shai and Carl returning to my side.
"It’s alright." I didn't recognize my own voice.
“You got me, huh?” he said sarcastically and looked at my shoes to make sure they weren't really in order.
You see? It looks like I'm not pretending. There's really nothing wrong!
They immediately left the canteen. He doesn't want the conversation to go on any longer, or I hope maybe he’s in a hurry.
Shai looked at me with mixed judgments. I ignored it and pulled her away to go out.
