Chapter 8 The next morning, as the King prepared to solve so many cases in the judgement room, he learned of Jeff's arrest. His white robe swept the ground as he walked majestically to the cell. “I heard of your arrest from a servant; why did my brother order your arrest? Did you commit any crime?” Jeff stood breathing heavily, and he saw a glimpse of hope in the King's eyes. Jeff heard footsteps approaching and turned to the left. “Uncle did tell me you would come here and try to release him. You and Terry always go against my orders.” Jeff stared at Anderson with indignation; he had always strived to prove his loyalty to him. But he derived pleasure from cuffing him. “What has he done wrong? He has been nothing but faithful to you.” The King defended Jeff. “Are you aware that Jeff tried to harm Terry? He was the only one in the room when Terry was found unconscious.” The King snapped his fingers and sighed. “Can you listen to yourself? When will you stop being a lapdog to my brother? Can't you see he's just using you?” Jeff held onto his own shirt and spat on the ground. He regretted not listening to Terry and becoming his ally; was Anderson really worth all his trouble? “I have the power to release Jeff right here and now, and that is exactly what I will do. You have imprisoned him without any evidence.” The King felt his heart skip a beat; he was extremely infuriated. Jeff was stunned! Why did the King care so much for an ordinary servant? Jeff wasn't worth anything compared to a royal. “Well, we will see about that in the judgement room.” The King turned towards Jeff, who also looked on with confusion. The King and Jeff's eyes locked on together, and Jeff could feel a strong bond between them. A Knight interrupted them. “The hall is filled to the brim, Your Highness. We have to go.” The King stared at Jeff one more time before leaving. “Wait!” Jeff tried to stop the King. “I saw a woman running out of Prince Terry's room moments before I went in.” The King nodded and left the prison cell. The arena was filled with so many citizens and tourists, who came to witness the wisdom of Eryndor's King. Meanwhile, in Terry's room, he lay motionless on the cold floor. Just as he was about to open his eyes, he felt something stern hit his head. He fell on the bed once again. “You being unconscious is very helpful to me at the moment. That servant makes my skin crawl. I don't like him; I need to get rid of him. Sleep well, Prince Terry.” The King's brother turned around and headed towards the prison; he had an unfinished conversation with Jeff. _Jeff Connects With His Ancestors._ As the King's brother marched towards the prison, Jeff sat on the floor of the cell. He had decided to break out of these rough walls and return to Zorek, where magic was accepted and lawful. “How are you doing, boy?” The King's brother asked, his tone filled with sarcasm. “How does it feel to be hated for no reason? Have you ever wondered why the King is so weak?” Jeff stared at him with darkened eyes, and the murderous feeling rising within him. But he was no murderer, though the man before him deserved to die. “I want to show you something that you would live to remember.” Jeff felt highly irritated and could no longer control his emotions; his eyes glowed. He watched the King's brother turn into an ice sculpture right before his eyes, slowly from his foot upwards. “I have had enough; no more tolerance and no more bullying.” As Jeff broke free from the cell and tried to escape, he saw a light coming from behind him. “What are you?” Jeff asked. The elder stood beside the frozen sculpture Jeff had made and touched it with the tip of his fingers. “You must be furious right now, aren't you?” Jeff took a step back as the strange, unknown man kept coming closer towards him. “Who are you?” Jeff repeated. “I am whoever you think I am.” Jeff turned around; he had no time for games. The guards would soon discover that the King's brother was yet to come out, and then he would be exposed before a lot of people. “Do you wish to find your parents?” Jeff stood and turned around; of course, he wanted to find his parents. Before Jeff could respond, the guards were on their way. “Don't be afraid; once they open that door, they won't know what hit them.” The old man took Jeff's hand and took him to the spirit world. “Listen here, whatever you have to say. Say it now; I'm in a hurry. I need to leave for Zorek.” The old man laughed; he knew that Jeff could not understand him. There was no need for him to go to Zorek when Zorek was on its way here. “Eryndor needs you; Prince Anderson needs you. Without you, he is going to die.” The old man tried to win Jeff's sympathy. “I don't care anymore; he's an arrogant man, full of himself. He thinks he's the almighty, then let him save himself.” The old man touched his shoulder and turned Jeff, showing him what was ahead. Princess Aria: “Do you think this is a good idea, mistress?” Jeff's eyes widened; he would not let this old man turn his heart away from Princess Aria. Mistress: “Can't you see? The tree has shown us what we need to see. The prince and his servant are trying to spy on us; why can't we do the same?” Princess Aria: “But my spy is already in there.” Mistress: “But for how long? Today, every citizen would be seated in the arena mindlessly. It is the perfect chance.” Princess Aria: “I don't have time for this. Someone has the ring and is coming for me. I need to get ready for him and not this.” Mistress: “Don't you dare talk back at me! We need to find the meaning of what a system is, but before then, you will attack them tonight. Are we clear?” Princess Aria bowed and nodded; she had no choice but to attack them and soon. Jeff snapped out of the trance; he was back in the cell, and the King's brother was unfrozen. The old man must have done that to keep him out of trouble, but the King's brother looked at him strangely. “For some reason, I forgot what I was doing here. Why are you in prison?” Jeff stared on in silence, his mind on the arena and the vision he had just witnessed. He needed to get out of here soon.
