In Prison

Chapter 7 Jeff stood still, his heart pounding so loud in his chest. He thought the King's brother could hear it. “The prince tells me you helped him find the Lost City of Zorek.” Jeff gulped; he did not expect Prince Anderson to blabber so much. He wished in his heart that Terry would just suddenly show up. “How could you, a servant, a slave, a trophy gotten from war and bloodshed? How could you have found Zorek?” Jeff blinked rapidly; his emotions were about to betray him. Whenever he felt scared, his powers developed a mind of their own. “Please, not today,” he prayed. “I only answer to my master and no one else.” The King sat on his royal chair, but his presence had long faded in the minds of these two men. “Leave him alone and let the young man go to sleep,” the King's brother sneered, questioning who he was to give him such an order. “I am your King.” The King's voice echoed through the palace, stirring up Terry from his sleep. Terry's hand touched the other part of the bed; his partner was nowhere to be found. He opened his eyes abruptly. When did the beauty slip away, or was she lured by his brother Michael's charm? He stormed to the direction of Michael's room. “Alright, King.” Terry's steps were halted, sensing the tension downstairs. Every second was filled with commotion, just what he wanted. Peace was never his way; he needed to make an alliance with the King's brother. The enemy of your enemy is your friend, after all. He continued his walk towards Michael's room. “Fine, your highness.” The King's brother bowed, his voice filled with sarcasm and treason. He walked away, his hatred for Jeff having just been birthed into the world like a newborn child. Jeff was about to walk away when the King called him. “I never said you should leave this instant.” Jeff stood still. He felt his neck itch, but this was no ordinary itch. It was a sign; his powers were about to erupt and go bizarre. He could see the lights losing their power. “How did you find Zorek? It doesn't exist. At least, not on the map I know.” The King said. “I will be back; I need to go pee.” Jeff ran into the bathroom. The King went into his bedroom; it was almost morning. Today was going to be a busy day for the King, as all the people were going to kneel before him, both the accused and the accuser. His wisdom was going to be tested, and his brother was going to make sure he made a mistake publicly. “Michael, open up.” Terry barged into his brother's room, but it was empty. Was he out clubbing the night away? With everyone's attention focused on Anderson, Michael always slipped away and made the worst decisions. Terry couldn't turn off the worry switch in his head. He went back into his room to get some sleep, his heart easing as soon as he saw the beauty he was searching for. “Where were you? I was worried about you.” Terry asked, concerned. His heart melted; for the first time, he felt he was in love. “I was in the bathroom,” the lady said. Terry wasted no time in lifting her off the ground, but his lover was not in a very good mood. “Why the long face?” Terry asked, his hands on her waist. Ever since Jeff was born, he was considered a threat to his people. His parents took him and tried to escape, but they weren't lucky enough. A bell rang in his ears when someone dangerous was nearby, and today, while Jeff stalled in the bathroom, it was no different. “Why the long face?” Jeff could hear Terry's voice loudly, as though they stood close to him. “I've been thinking about something, and I don't know if you have the answer.” Terry's eyes glowed; the love spell was beginning to wear off. The lady in his arms needed to get out of there, but first, she needed answers. “Do you know what a system is?” The lady held his collar. Terry touched his forehead thoughtfully. He would check the dictionary later. “Dictionary,” why didn't she think of that? The lady hit her head with her palm and ran off. Terry was about to chase after her when he fell to the floor. Jeff washed his hands and moved slowly towards Terry's room. He saw the lady running and chased after her. “Stop, who are you?” The lady threw dust in the air and vanished. Jeff stood there, gasping. Who was that? Jeff opened the door to Terry's room and saw him lying on the floor, unconscious, with abnormal breathing. Jeff ran to the Anderson's uncle for help. “I know just what to do,” Anderson's uncle smiled. “Guards!” The knights marched into the palace. “Take him and arrest him.” The guards obeyed. Jeff sat in the locked cell, his heart racing. His mind was filled with disorganized thoughts; what benefit did he get from being a servant? This question always came back to haunt him. _Zorek_ In Zorek, the sun never rose. The sky was always dark. The trees blinked, and everything was alive. Aria's favorite tree had seen something absurd tonight – two unknown men jumping through her window. It needed to tell her, but she was fast asleep. _Aria's Vision_ The stranger: “Finally, the ring is mine. I told you this was a piece of cake for me.” A masked man stood beside the stranger, watching quietly. He brought out a steel blade from his wrist. The masked man: “I never lose. I know you can see me, my beloved princess. I am on my way. Be ready.” Princess Aria gasped and sat up quickly. She had offended so many Drews; which of them was coming? She needed to get to him first. Was that ring real or fake? Her head spun. “Princess Aria: What do you want now?” She yelled at the tree and smiled. Finally, a reason to go back to Eryndor.
