The surviving women of the 586th, 587th and 588th met in a park across from the Bolshoi theater. Every year, the women who could, met as they had promised. There were tears, laughter and dancing. Those that could, came with their husbands, children and grandchildren to have them share in their memories. They proudly wore their medals on their blouses or jackets.
Vera, Yuri and their five children went every year to the reunion, except for one time, she was in labor and missed the day. She stayed in touch with Ksenia throughout the years by phone or letters. And every year Ksenia and her family of four reunited with Vera on May 2.
