Several weeks later, Vera was given a dispatch to the fighter squadron stationed near the Russian front. She had to keep checking the map to make sure she was headed in the right direction. One wrong turn and she would be flying directly over enemy territory. Vera was carefully plotting her flight route when she looked up and saw a Messerschmitt coming straight at her.
