chapter 10(Burning The Book)

Queen Dominika sauntered towards the crown prince's door.Her heart throbbed as she approached the door.Her twenty-four years old son was being confined in that room like a wild animal because of some vampire.

“Cursed be you vampire! ”She cursed in her heart and peered into the room via the hole which she had asked some woodworkers to drill when the door was being installed in the forbidden room.

Her eyes scoured around the room via the hole and she found her son sleeping like a baby on the white marble ground.There was a large elevated bed beside the oriel window but he never slept on it.In no time, he would be thirsty for human blood again.She needed to arrange for some humans whom her son would be feasting on.

“Oh, how I wish all this comes to an end real soon”Queen Dominika muttered bitterly and turned around and left.

She headed for the King's chamber to talk to him about Easton's suggestion.She hadn't told him so far about Easton's propositions for the cure to the Crown prince's curse.She opened the door to the chamber and walked in.

King Eduardo was reading a script which was held in his hands.

“How are you doing today my queen?”King Eduardo asked, his gaze still fixed on the script.Queen Dominika sat beside him, resting her head on his shoulder.

“I can never be fine until my son is back to normal”

King Eduardo rolled his eyes_here we go again, He thought.

He had already given up on that hematophagous son of his.The prince was still in the castle because of his mother's insistence, else, the king would have sent him to the evil forest where he belongs.

“Easton has found a remedy to our son's curse”Queen Dominika imparted with a wheeze.

King Eduardo shifted his gaze to her.He was surprised.How did that happen?...

Staring at the boldly italicized title on the hard cover of the book in his hands,King Antonio furrowed at the author of the book as all he could see was six In tally form.He peered at it for a while and dropped it on the ground.Finding the book had taken him almost two hours.

He drew out a candle stick from his pocket and lit the candle wick with fire.He drew the candle wick closer to the book.

He smiled faintly as he took a seat opposite the burning book and when the book was burnt out, the fire vanished as the book had turned into ashes.He left the library immediately.

King Antonio beckoned on the maids he found at the hallway housing his chamber, to throw away the ashes of the book.

The King entered his chamber and observed that the princess had left.He proceeded to the bathroom to freshen up.

Pearlene could be seen holding her stomach as she burst into laughter.Princess Gersemi glared at her through the mirror as she wore her bangles on her wrist.

“This isn't funny Pearl”Princess stated firmly and Pearlene stopped laughing though she forced herself to stifle a laugh.

“This is funny my princess.how could you run away when you were just imagining things?”Pearlene asked in disbelieve and moved back to stand behind the princess so she could style her hair.

“Like I said earlier, it wasn't an imagination.It happened like Uriah was here and he touched me,I felt it”

“I'm sorry but I need to laugh again”

Pearlene knelt down and began laughing again.Princess Gersemi shook her head and picked up an earring so she could put it on.

“I swear Pearl,I see no humour in what I'm telling you ”Princess Gersemi stated with a hiss and Pearlene stopped laughing again and stood up on her feet.

“I don't believe in ghosts Princess and this story of yours,is preposterous.”

“I didn't believe in it as well, until I saw..i mean, until he touched me”

“What baffles me most is that the said ghost came from a book, how possible is that?Amongst all the stories my grandma told me when she was alive,she's never told me of a ghost who emerged from a book.look at the absurdity in what you are telling me princess,no one would believe you”Pearlene spoke calmly as she began styling the princess' hair.

“i know but I swear,he was in my room.I didn't get to see his face but he touched me and he called on Uriah”Princess Gersemi said frustratedly.She hates being doubted, but would she really blame Pearlene? Her story sounded like gibberish to the ear.

After having a scrumptious and sumptuous meal,Princess Jennell strutted to the guards quarters.All the guards bowed their heads in obeisance.None of them dared to look at her or raise their heads or she might have them killed.She stopped walking and Dee, her personal maid, halted behind her.

Princess Jennell turned to her left to look at the man her body yearned for.She touched his left cheek tenderly and smiled , frowning almost immediately.

“I'll need you at 6pm sharp;don't keep me waiting”She whispered into his left ear and twirled around, walking away with Dee trailing behind her.

Once the princess was out of eight, the other guards stared teasingly at Logan.

Logan ignored their stares and walked back to his seat.Nettal, she must be really sad right now.What mess has his beauty gotten him into? was it a crime to look pleasing to the eyes?

Unbeknownst to them all, Nettal was at the top of the opposite building starting at everything that had happened and is still happening.The way Princess Jennell held Logan's cheek and the way she took her lips close to his ear.

Nettal could swear she had never been that close to Logan even though they were betrothed,she's always kept a safe distance between them.But the princess just emerged from nowhere and is already exploring Logan's body, her property.

“It's confirmed already.She's the one after my man.I won't spare her”Nettal seethed and returned back into the building.

Princess Gersemi and Pearlene set to ambling around the orchard few metres away from the main castle.

“Ugh...it's boring out here”Princess Gersemi groused as she plopped herself on the bench behind her.

“Okay,don't tell me you're reconsidering ditching the library?”Pearlene asked with a suspicious look and sat beside her.

“Novel is life.Do you know the joy I derive from reading those interesting stories?”

“The ‘A call to answer’ story?”

Princess Gersemi gasped when she heard the title of the book emitting Pearlene's mouth.The title alone sends cold shivers down her spine.

“Oh,you're scared of the story now?”Pearlene asked almost laughing.

“I don't know why Pearlene,I feel like I'm connected to that particular story.i was so engrossed in it when I was reading it yesterday it was like i was part of them”Princess Gersemi confessed.

“That's the aftermath of being addicted to reading stories.come on princess,you need a life outside those bulky books.Now, your Uriah is after you”Pearlene said earning a glare from the Princess.

“Do you have to make fun of me everytime?”She scowled at Pearlene.

“You called him your Uriah yesterday, did you or did you not?”

“Fine,I did.Let's just forget about that book and discuss about something else”Princess Gersemi suggested and picked up a little rock from the ground, tossing it in the air and it made a whooshing sound.Pearlene picked a little rock as well and tossed it in the air, causing another whooshing sound.

Princess Gersemi suddenly gasped in shock.It felt like déjà vu to her.She could recall from the story how Uriah and Peridot threw rocks in the air.

“Is everything alright my princess?”Pearlene asked with a concerned look.Princess Gersemi shut her eyes, opening them almost immediately.she nodded her head and sighed.she wouldn't want to bring up the book subject again .

Pearlene shrugged when the Princess nodded her head that she was fine.

“Did you know?”Pearlene suddenly asked like she just remembered something.

“About what?”Princess Gersemi asked in confusion.

“I overheard some maids saying Princess Jennell is sleeping with Logan”Pearlene whispered and Princess Gersemi's eyes widened with shock
