Daisy's pov:
Doctor Pascal had assured me that even though there was still some poison left inside of me, it would take time before it began to react and now I knew that I had much more time.
The next day. I had drafted out places that I was going to visit but an outfit was an issue for me, especially since I didn't have any clothes here and couldn't go back to the mansion, now that Finn and Laura were there.
I left Khai's house and when I finally got a cab to town, I realised how far away from town Khai was living.
It was so deep inside the woods that if I were to find it on my own, it was going to be difficult. Khai was famous in the city, known and so was his company.
But to think he lived this far away was enough to draw people's suspicion..I stopped by a boutique in town to get some outfits, so you would be able to change into something nice.
But I was so busy rifling through the rack and didn't realise when someone stood behind me, a deep frown on her face which I had failed to notice until she spoke.
“You must really have nine lives, else tell me why you are still here” I turned to stare at Laura dressed in a designer outfit and a very heavy makeup on her face.
Just yesterday she was a secretary and now she is enjoying the money I worked hard for. “Laura. The nerve of you to be able to show your face to me”
“Of course! Why shouldn't I…..” she chuckled and moved closer to me in a fashionable manner that seemed to be a show off.
“This was a battle, I won and you lost, I am just surprised you are still alive….. I mean given the amount of dosage he gave you”
She lowered her voice at the last words she spoke, a smirk on her lips. “You seem to be enjoying another woman suffer, makes me wonder how you are going to feel when Finn loses all that luxury you think you have now”
I expressed but she let out a soft chuckle. “Oh! You must really think you can get the company back?”
“If it was so easy to take everything away from me, trust me when I say…… he would have killed me, but he knows I am still useful, you are a dumb one that can't understand that”
She gritted her teeth, no doubt that my words suddenly had an edge on her yet Laura wasn't ready to give up as she rubbed her stomach.
Clearly, ly she had no idea that I o was pregnant thinking she could use her pregnancy to get under my skin.
“At least I am not barren, have some use with my womb, so unfortunate I could easily get Finn to get rid of you because of that”
“Yeah, except everything is going to fall apart when he finds out the baby is not hisThisis time, she could no longer conceal it, she let out a deep frown as his face scrunched up on one side.
“How dare you say such a thing!”
Of course, I say it because I know Finn is impotent which can only mean he's not the father of your child, so keep deceiving yourself or you can wait until everything falls apart.”
She opened her mouth to speak again, but I shushed her and elegantly walked out on her. Even as I walk around trying to find a few suitable outfits, I could still feel her gaze around me.
Yet I didn't care, she can plan for all she wants, but I won't let her get to me not even the tiniest. Once I was done shopping, I handed over the items to the clerk, and the cashier calculated the price.
“It's a thousand dollars ma'am” she spoke politely, I could see a flicker of recognition in her eyes as she spoke to me with respect.
I pulled out my card and handed it there, and she didn't hesitate to slot it in.
“Card rejected!” She told me with a look of shock in her eyes.
“Are you sure?” I asked. Trying to piece together why it would happen. “Try it again, please”
I begged and like a shadow, I noticed Laura next to me again. “Looks like indeed you have gone broke and the beast that took you away can't even help you”
The sarcasm in her voice was venomous yet I chose to ignore her knowing now wasn't the time.
“Ma'am! I am sorry but it was declined again, you have to get another card in order to be able to complete the payment”
The cashier explained very politely to me. I nodded my head, trying to figure out what was happening, even though it was clear to me that Finn had blocked my account, yet I couldn't comprehend how he was able to do it.
How in the world was he able to block all of my accounts without my consent?. “I know you might have been there thinking maybe there was still hope for you to take over the company”
Laura started speaking again with a wild smile on her face. “But trust me. Finn has everything covered, every angel you might think to use, he has thought about that and blocked it, so give up!”
She spoke with finality in her voice but even though I was in a very concerning situation she remained calm.
“Give up?” I asked with a cold smile on my face.
“I was fifteen when my father died and I had to take over the company, fifteen years ago, Laura.…...….. Do you know what that means, do you know the vultures that call themselves board members I had to deal with, you and Finn, you are no match for me”
I snarl at her then pull to a side to make a call to Khai, we had barely known each other and I knew that asking him for such money right now would make me look cheap, but I didn't care, I would make the call.
“Hello Khai” I called out once I was sure he picked up. “I need your help, I am stuck where I am right now?” I explained.
“Where are you right now?” There was urgency in his tone and I knew that he wasn't going to listen to anything else that I tell him.
