CHAPTER SEVEN

Daisy's pov I understand that Finn still needs my signature for some documents left, since he doesn't access all the Benneth properties, but I had no clue he would go as far as writing this in the media. He had created a sympathetic post about me being sick and Mr Khai was using his powers to adopt me, begging the police to help me return. It was clear that behind this, there was definitely something else he was planning. Yet I didn't want this to get to me. I needed the rest first. I didn't realise I slept all through the night until a knock woke me up the next day. I turned and tossed around the bed, and didn't realise that I could be this exhausted. Yet the knock persisted, not letting me catch a break even for a moment. “Come in!” I groaned in a very annoying tone and as the door swung open, it was Lisa, the maid from yesterday. “Good morning,” she greeted her, and yet there was a look of disgust on her face. “It's morning already?” I asked, glancing at the watch by the side of the bed, but she didn't give me a response as she went straight to the curtains, opened them wide for the sunlight to be able to stream inside. “The Alpha has asked that I assist you in getting your bath and dressed so you can join him for breakfast, but I assume you are not handicapped and can take care of yourself, right?” “Why have you been so rude to me?” No matter how many times I had tried to ignore the way she kept acting while close to me, it was slowly starting to get on my nerves. “Rude? Of course not. I am very polite to you, so please get out of bed and go have your bath!” She commanded again in the usual irritating tone and, no matter how angry it made me, I was a guest yet still trying to figure out my life and didn't want to make any trouble. I did as she had instructed, went into the bathroom, which was a very large bathroom with almost every electrical fitting you would ever need. I always thought that my family's mansion would be the best I would ever see, even though I hadn't seen the exterior of this house. I was already very impressed. I took the wash and scrubbed my body in perfect rhyme. Yesterday was a very hectic day for me, but I was already getting the feeling that today would be worse. As I stepped out of the bathroom, draped in a white towel, I was shocked to see that Lisa was still in the room, this time. She held out some outfits and was carefully ascertaining them. “You are done!” She acted as if she had just noticed I walked in, forcing a cold smile on her face. “Perfect! Next, let me help you get everything styled.” “It's fine. I can do it myself.” “I know, but it's my job and, given that Alpha wants you to be taken appropriately good care of, I wouldn't want to miss that chance.” There was much about her that settled me. For starters, she didn't sound or act like a maid. That minute she seemed like something else, and the next she was something else. Yet again, like someone under a spell, I sat down and watched her from the mirror as she applied some oily gel to my hair, then she pulled hard, and a syringe of my hair fell off. “Ouch! What did you just do?” I cried out, this time turning around to face her, but she remained very innocent and looked clueless. “I didn't do anything” “Yes, you just drew my hair!” I protested. This time it was getting to a level that I could no longer take it. “I didn't and if I did. It must have been a mistake. You don't have to worry about that. “Don't I have to worry about that?” I asked, and this time, I shoved my hair away from her and rose to my feet. There was no way that I was going to continue letting her step on me. I am a daughter of the Benneth family. “What exactly is your problem with me? Because I think I have had enough of it.” “You want me to tell you what my problem is, fine, since you want to hear it!” She walked towards me. Her gaze locked directly with mine and there was not even a flicker of fear in her eyes. “For starters, you are not wanted here. Do you know that there are people who have worked so hard to be in this position, and you think pretending to carry his baby will make you his wife?” “Wait! You think I want to be Khai's wife?” I scoffed. Couldn't help but laugh at how absurd that sounded to me. “Oh please! Don't you even dare pretend like you don't know what I am talking about, because I am sure as hell that you do. You are human and a b***h, and you can never belong here.” Her hands were on her waist as she spoke with not a flicker of fear in her eyes. “I don't plan to belong here, but I don't think that a maid has the right to tell me that. Are you not afraid of what would happen if Khai finds out what you are doing?” I asked, and then she did the least of the things that I would expect her to ever do. Lisa raised her hand and without warning, she slammed me very hard in my face. “What!” I gasped as my cheek throbbed red with sharp pain. I held my cheek trying to ease the burning sensation and even though I don't know how things work here, this was definitely the least of the things I had expected. “What did you just do?” I asked. “He is Alpha Khai, a low-life human like you, who doesn't have the right to address him by his name. If you ever do, ever again, you might be hanged to death!” She spoke in an authoritative tone, the way the queen of England would do. “What is going on here?” A voice suddenly spoke from behind in a deep and commanding voice. Lisa and I immediately turned to see who had walked in.
