Khai's pov The woods outside Paul's space were darker than I was used to, the tree cover thicker, the kind of place that absorbed sound and held it. Paul's men had marked the site with stakes and rope, a rough perimeter around the area where the three bodies had been found, and two of his senior warriors stood at the edge of it waiting for us. I stepped inside and let my senses open up the way I always did at a scene, pushing everything else back and letting the information come in on its own terms rather than reaching for it.
