CHAPTER NINE

Daisy's pov Fire! My entire body was on fire from the inside, I had no clue what was going on, but I was burning and the more intense it became, the more the pain grew stronger. Khai grabbed me and helped me to the bed. “It's hot!” I cried out. “Yes. I can tell, your temperature is rising very fast. Something is definitely wrong with you” even in a situation like this, he seemed very calm as his hands went around my body trying to get my temperature. But the only thing I knew, was that I couldn't have my clothes on while my body was burning this much from the inside. “Take it off…… take off my clothes……” I cried, and he seemed shocked by my request as his eyes slightly widened. “Daisy…..” “Take it off!” I cried out while I grew up on the bed. Khai was very hesitant about my request. He stared at me for a long while and finally began to unbutton my shirt, even while he did, his eyes were closed like my body was a curse. He didn't dare look at it. Once he was done unbuttoning my shirt, he striped it off and tried to cover it with a blanket, but I tossed it off. With each passing second, the burning increased to the point that even my throat was on fire. “Khai…. Please help me….. please help me” I cried, I didn't want to die knowing that Finn had gone free. I couldn't die when I knew I was yet to get my revenge on him. “Please……” I tried to speak, but the words choked on my throat, nothing could come out. Khai immediately rose to his feet. He carried me right into his arms and started rushing to the bathroom. Even though I wanted to ask what he was doing, I couldn't, not to mention that I was so desperate. Khai went straight to the bathroom and carefully placed me inside the bathtub. He was about to leave but I immediately grabbed his arm. “Please….. Don't leave me…..” I forced the words out of my mouth even though it was clear to me that this man was a monster. Someone who would kill at the slightest annoyance by blinking an eye. Yet I needed him now. “I will be right back. I promise,” he assured me, and before I would even get the chance to speak again. He pulled away from me and dashed out of the bathroom. I kept trying to turn and toss, but it wasn't easy given how small the bathroom was. It didn't take long, and he was back carrying a bucket of ice. Khia poured it all right into the tub and settled next to me. “I have sent for a skilled doctor. He knows exactly the kind of poison that was used, and he would be able to help.” He assured me while stroking my hair. “In the meantime, you should calm down, the more your heartbeat rises. The more it will be dangerous for the baby. He spoke very gently. It was so difficult to believe that he was the same person that was so cruel to Lisa a few minutes ago. After a while, my temperature slowly began to calm, I was feeling much better and all that I could think about was to think. “How do you feel?” he asked, but my body had become weak, too weak to even speak. But as soon as I heard a knock on the door, my eyes flung open. “You don't have to worry. I will be back,” he assured me, stroking my hair one last time before he walked out of there. *** Khai's Pov As I went to check up the door, it was Doctor Pascal standing right there. “What took you so long?” I groaned very impatiently. “Now is not the time, Alpha,” Pascal started, walking to the room carrying a box containing his working tools. “Where is she?” he asked as she stepped inside the room, but soon. He had caught the scent of her in the bathroom and moved towards there. “Why is she here? Don't you realize this isn't good for the fetus that is yet to properly develop?” he spoke, pointing at the surrounding ice. I didn't need to waste any time as I rushed towards Daisy, who seemed to be fast asleep and carried her out of the tub. We walked back to the bed where I gently placed her there. I stepped aside while Pascal began to examine her. “How is she?” “She is human” “I know, but that is not what I asked. How is she, how is the baby?” “Given how hot her body was a few minutes ago, it's going to be next to impossible for the fetus to survive.” He blurted out, his gaze met mine as he did. “No, I can't lose that fetus, please Pascal, you have to help you. You know how long I searched and wanted this.” “I know I will do my best, but the fetus has been through a lot already and, given how underdeveloped, I don't think it can survive. I am sorry that I am crushing your hopes, but I just have to tell you. “So what are we going to do now?” I ran my fingers through my disheveled hair as I let out a long sigh of frustration. “First let's see what kind of poison she has been injected with and let's see if there is a way to get rid of it.” He explained and walked closer to her, slowly injecting a very tiny needle into her while I stood behind watching. Bang! I heard a loud knock on the door. I didn't want to interrupt Pascal with the treatment he was administering to her, so I quickly rushed to the door. “Alpha,” Shark called out as I opened the door with a scrawled look on his face. “We have a huge problem,” he was staring directly into my eyes as like he needed me to feel the intensity of the problem. “The cops are here, and they want to have a word with you,” he explained, and given our world and the things we do, it is never a good thing for a human to come find us. They never walk out of here alive.
