Khai's pov
Without hesitation, Pascal began to make a few calls. He had done his training after medical school at the human hospital. It was a very respectable one, so it was normal for him to have connections there.
And while he was on the phone, I also thought it was time for me to use my business connection to also see if I could pull the syringe.
But by the time I had called up to five contacts, I was exhausted and very angry. “What did they say?” I asked him once he was off the phone, knowing that nothing good came from my own end.
“Turns out the Benneth corporation is a very big shot, they have lots of connections with the highest up and Finn is using that connection to his advantage and even the media.”
Pascal explained even though I already knew that.
“That bastard, he should wait. Soon I am going to send him to hell where he belongs,” I growl, the anger very visible as my face scrunched up. I started walking towards the road, ready to face the music.
“Where are you going, Alpha?”
“There is nothing else that I can do, I just have to admit I did something to her, follow them to the station and wait until Daisy is fine, then she can come bail me out.”
Pascal opened his mouth but no words came out, it was clear to him that I was right and there was absolutely nothing he could do.
I stepped out and walked over to the gate where they were waiting. “Finally Sir, you decided to show up, yet I don't see her next to you?”
“Show some respect when you speak to him,” Shark suddenly growled. I had no idea he was standing there, no doubt he knew I was about to take the bait Finn had set.
“It's fine Shark. Let me speak to them.”
“I think we are done speaking. Where is Ms. Daisy, or do we go in there and search the mansion?”
“You have a warrant. Because I can't see it?”
“No. But trust me, in a case like yours, I just have to make a few calls and a warrant will be here in less than a few minutes, or don't you think we are not aware of the suspicious things that go on here and only silent because there has never been a reason to search”
“And now you think this is a reason for you?” A smirk spread through my face as I tried to taunt him.
“I am sure the media are going to have a fun day with you. Especially when it comes to missing someone like Daisy Benneth, you should know how powerful the Benneth name is and trust me, you picked the wrong fight.”
“Easy officer ….. I haven't admitted to anything yet, but you seemed so certain I had done something to her,” I muttered.
“Yet, but you will, when we get to Prescott,” he spoke, and then turned to his men, just a glance from him. They knew exactly what to do, they rushed towards me and cuffed my hands.
“Let go. I am so curious to hear what you will have to say at the station, you can call your lawyer if you want.”
“Oh don't worry, I won't be needing one,” I spoke with a calm and satisfying smile on my face which seemed to be getting on their nerves.
Detective Robert dragged me like a little thief. I growled, wishing I would get the chance to teach him a lesson, but just as we reached their car, a voice called out from behind.
“Khai!” I heard the female voice and even though I had known Daisy for just a day, it sounded so much like hers.
I turned around and was so stunned to see Daisy running towards me. The fact that she was running made my blood boil in a rage.
I badly wanted to tell her to stop, to tell her not to run else she might hurt the baby who was already hanging by a thread, but I remained calm, yet I gritted my teeth.
“Ms. Benneth?” Detective Robert called as he pulled away from me, his eyes wide open with shock evident in them.
“How are you? Are you hurt?” He rushed over to her with familiarity and care as he spoke to her, his eyes ascertaining her from head to toe.
“Why would you ask me about Detective Robert?” She asked and as she called out his name, it was clear to me that both of them were familiar. Now I could finally understand why he was so hostile to me.
“We got a report from your husband about this man. We heard he poisoned you and abducted you.” Daisy laughed, but it was bitter.
“Don't listen to anything that bastard says, soon he won't be my husband because I will be filing a lot of suits against him.”
“Oh! I had no idea that both of you were having issues.”
“Trust me, Detective, this is more than just mere marital issues. He went as far as trying to kill me and when he couldn't, he played another card to gain sympathy from the public”.
“And Mr. Hart?” Detective Robert pointed at me, clearly he still wasn't convinced that I was innocent.
“He was the one that saved me. I owe him my life, else I would be dead right now.”
“Oh, you have just said that earlier.”
“Yeah, like you would believe anything I said.”
“If that is the case, why didn't you come out when we first came?”
“I just told you Finn nearly killed me. I was barely alive, and the doctor was attending to me. Good thing the doctor informed me of the situation, else I don't know what I would do if you had laid your hands on him.”
Even though Daisy had said it calmly, I could feel the threat behind her words, she was protecting me and that was certainly not a side of her I had expected to see.
“I apologize, Mr. Hart,” the detective finally turned to me after getting a detailed explanation of the situation. “Please let me know if you ever want to get your ex arrested.”
“Of course, I know that I can count on you,” she smiled as the officers all bowed their heads and finally returned to their car.
