Orphan Anna's house was small, but she had decorated it with her hard work and love. The mild morning sun was peeking through the window of her room, but Anna was fast asleep on the bed. The alarm was ringing continuously, and suddenly her eyes opened. As soon as she looked at the clock, she panicked, "Oh God! I am late again today!"
In a hurry, she dressed quickly, gathered her hair and tied it in a bun, and wore a simple blouse. Even without makeup on her face, there was a charm in her simplicity. Her bright eyes and softly smiling lips gave her a special glow.
She left the house in a hurry and ran toward the café where she worked. As soon as she reached the café, her friend Mia saw her and teased her, “Hey Anna, are you ever going to come on time? You’re always late!”
Anna laughed and replied, “Hey, I thought I’d make it early today, but maybe fate likes to play tricks on me.”
Mia laughed and said, “Alright, well hurry up—there are a lot of orders today!”
Anna took her place in the kitchen and started cooking with enthusiasm. Everything in the kitchen felt like her own—the fresh spices, the aroma of ingredients, and the sizzle of the food she prepared. She was completely immersed in her cooking, and it seemed like her joy infused every dish.
Jake, on the other hand, was a man whose name alone could make people’s hearts race. Tall, strong, and with a cold, stern expression. There was a strange sparkle and mystery in his dark brown eyes, as if he could see right into someone’s soul. He wore a light beard, adding to the tough look on his face. Jake was as attractive as he was intimidating—a personality that was both awe-inspiring and mysterious.
Jake's life was a unique blend of power, fear, and status. He was dangerous and ruthless to his enemies but a strong protector to those close to him. His manner of speaking was stern and serious, and he chose his words carefully, as if every word he spoke carried a hidden warning.
That evening, Jake was at his hideout. Some of his men were standing before him, and one of them clearly looked as if he had made a huge mistake. Jake spoke in a cold voice, “You know there’s no room for errors in this job, right?”
The man, visibly afraid, said, “Sir, I made a mistake, but please give me another chance! I’ll make it right.”
Without blinking, Jake replied in a calm, chilling tone, “Another chance? In my world, there’s only victory or punishment. There’s no room for forgiveness.”
He signaled, and the man began to walk away in a panic. Jake then took out his pistol and, without wasting a moment, fired. The bullet passed through the man’s back, and he fell on the spot.
Jake looked at his men and said, “Remember, here, a single mistake costs your life.”
Everyone around him stood with their heads bowed in fear. Jake's persona was wrapped in mystery and fear. As tough and ruthless as he seemed on the outside, there was something turbulent going on inside him. Each night, when he was alone, he would wonder, “Is this path leading me anywhere, or am I just losing myself?”
Meanwhile, at the busy Los Angeles airport, there was a crowd of people and a cool breeze. The flight from London had just landed, and the only daughter of Senator Thompson, Sarah, stepped onto American soil. Sarah had a unique combination of confidence and beauty, with long, curly hair, blue eyes, and a gentle smile. As soon as she landed, her father’s bodyguards surrounded her.
One of the bodyguards said, “Ma’am, your car is this way. Please follow us.”
Sarah nodded and walked toward the car. Once safely inside, she took out her phone and dialed Jake’s number. Jake, who was busy with his work, glanced at the screen and, seeing Sarah’s name, answered.
Jake: “Yes, Sarah. Is everything alright?”
Sarah: (Smiling) “Yes, Jake, everything’s fine. I’m back in town and can’t wait to see you. Can we meet this evening?”
Jake took a light breath. He wasn’t very interested in Sarah, but she was the senator's daughter, so refusing her wasn’t exactly an option.
Jake: (Indifferently) “Alright, we can meet this evening.”
Sarah’s face lit up with happiness. Jake was special to her. She knew he had a cold and stern demeanor, but she was convinced they had a unique bond.
Sarah: “Thank you, Jake. I’ll see you tonight.”
Jake ended the call without saying much. He knew Sarah admired him deeply, but for him, meeting her was more of an obligation.
When Sarah reached home, her father welcomed her with open arms. Senator Thompson was a powerful man, but around his daughter, he was simply a loving father.
Senator: “My dear daughter, you’re finally back! Were you missing me all the way from London?”
Sarah: (laughing) “Dad, you must’ve missed me, too! You called me on video so many times.”
They both laughed, and Sarah hugged her father. “Dad, I came back with something important to discuss.”
Senator: “Oh? And what might that be, my princess?”
Looking down with slight embarrassment, Sarah said, “Dad, I want to marry Jake, before someone else does.”
The senator stayed silent for a moment, then chuckled. “So, my daughter has her heart set on Jake?”
Sarah: (Smiling) “Dad, Jake has everything I want. His strength, his confidence, and he’s the son of your best friend.”
The senator nodded slowly. “I know Jake is an extraordinary person, and I have a close bond with him, too. But, Sarah, you do know his life isn’t easy? He deals with a lot of challenges. He lives like… a man in the underworld.”
Sarah: “Dad, I know all about his life. But I believe I can help him change if I’m by his side. And anyway, isn’t everything possible in love?”
The senator looked into his daughter’s eyes, seeing the sincerity and passion there. Finally, with a light smile, he said, “Alright, Sarah. If this is what makes you happy, I’ll talk to Jake about it. But remember, this path won’t be easy.”
Sarah smiled, holding her father’s hand. “Thank you, Dad. I know you’re always with me.”
The senator hugged his daughter, his eyes showing the deep love of a father.
