Evelyn’s POV
I knew she wouldn’t have anything nice to say to me. But I didn’t expect her to be this mean.
My first reaction was to yell back.
But she was Asher’s CFO. I knew I’d have to deal with her again on the Carnival City project, so I decided to hold back for now.
“You got the wrong idea.” I said, trying to stay calm. “I have no special interest in Alpha Asher. We’re just partners.”
…At least for now, that’s all we were.
Helena looked at me coldly. “God, so you really do think you can do business? YOU? With that amateur plan of yours?”
I looked her straight in the eye, trying to keep my tone level. “That plan was approved by Alpha Asher. I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
