[Hazel] As I was leaving the class the famous trios stopped me. They consist of three spoilt brats just like Ezekiel I was walking down the hallway, my eyes fixed on Ezekiel's locker hoping I won't run into him again. "Hey, Hazel. We need to talk." Ava stopped me. I turned to see the girls standing in front of me- Maya, Ava, and Sophia, the most popular girls in school. They were known for their beauty, their parent's money, and their fierce loyalty to each other. They were also cheerleaders. "What do you want?" I asked, trying to sound confident. They've never stopped me before, nor have I ever spoken to them before. Maya stepped forward, her eyes flashing. "We know what you're trying to do, Hazel. You're trying to seduce Ezekiel, but it's not going to work." Ava nodded. "Yeah, we've seen the way you've been flirting with him. But Ezekiel is off-limits. He's mine so back off you b***h. " Sophia crossed her arms. "So, we're warning you, Hazel. Stay away from Ezekiel. Or else." I rolled my eyes. "Or else what? What are you going to do? Beat me? Run to Ezekiel?" Maya smiled sweetly. "Or else we'll make sure everyone in school knows what you're really like. I'll make school hell for you." Maya, Ava, and Sophia's voices were firm and authoritative. "Ezekiel is my man, Hazel. And I won't share him with a low life like you." Ava glared. I raised an eyebrow. "Your man? That's rich coming from you Ava. You're not even his girlfriend. Do you know how many people are claiming to be his girlfriend? Get a life Ava. Pick a struggle l. You can't be failing class and still be a pick me." Sophia smirked. "We don't need to be his girlfriend to know that he's off-limits to you. Ava is the leader of the cheerleaders in school and Ezekiel is the captain of the basketball team. Do the maths dumb ass bitch." I shrugged. "I don't need Ezekiel anyway. Even if he was the last man on earth, I would rather become a nun." I hissed. Ava's eyes narrowed. "You're just saying that because you know you can't have him. Back off. This would be the first and the last time I'll warn you. I don't want to see you with my man." I smiled sweetly. "No, I'm saying it because I have standards. And Ezekiel doesn't meet them." Maya's face reddened. "You're just jealous because Ezekiel is drawn to Ava, not you." I laughed. "Jealous of you Ava? Please. I'm the one with the brains, the talent, and the looks. You're just a trio of basic, clingy girls. Come back when you are at the top of the class." The girls' faces fell, their eyes flashing with anger. "You'll regret saying that, Hazel," Sophia spat. And with that, the girls turned and walked away, leaving me feeling victorious but also a little uneasy. I knew I had just made some powerful enemies. I sighed. "Who is their right senses would exchange words with these girls. School is about to be hell for me." As the girls stormed off, I called out, "Get a life, girls! Ezekiel isn't even worth fighting over!" Maya, Ava, and Sophia stopped in their tracks, their faces red with rage. I got scared hoping they'll come back to beat me up or something. "You'll pay for that, Hazel!" Maya shouted, her voice echoing down the hallway. I rolled my eyes. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. You three are so predictable. Go ahead, try to take me down. I dare you." The girls glared at me, their eyes blazing with anger. But I just smiled, knowing I had gotten under their skin. Finally, they turned and stormed off, leaving me feeling victorious. I knew I had won this round, but I also knew the girls would be back, and next time, they wouldn't be so easy to defeat. I rode my bicycle back home and walked into the house, feeling proud of myself for standing up to the trio. They've always been bullies and I was happy I was able to take them down alone. I still felt uneasy walking into the house as I knew I was going to meet Ezekiel again. My pride was short-lived, as I heard my mother and Ezekiel arguing in the living room. "You took my favorite car without asking! How dare you." Ezekiel shouted. My mother, Rachel, stood her ground. "I didn't think I needed to ask permission to use a car that's been sitting in the garage for months. Besides it's your father's car and I think I have the right to use it." Ezekiel sneered. "You're just a golddigger, Rachel. You only care about the money and the cars, not about me or my feelings. That's my mom's car before she died. Don't ever touch any of my belongings again." My mom's face reddened. "How dare you! I'm your stepmother and I deserve to be treated with the same respect you'll give your late mother. I've treated you with nothing but kindness. You are an ungrateful brat!" My eyes widened as I watched the argument escalate. "Stop it, Ezekiel!" I shouted, my voice firm. "You have no right to talk to my mother like that!" Ezekiel turned to me, his eyes cold. "And she has no right to take my car without asking. You're just like your mother, a golddigger who only cares about what you can get from me and my father." My mother took a step forward, her eyes blazing. "That's it, Ezekiel. You're going to regret saying that. I'm going to report you to your father." My eyes widened in shock as I heard my mother saying she was going to report Ezekiel. This would make matters more complicated and make Ezekiel hate me more. "Mom, stop! Just stop!" I yelled, my voice trembling with anger. She turned to me, her eyes flashing. "Stay out of this, Hazel. This doesn't concern you." But I was beyond reasoning. "You're the one who's causing all the problems! If you hadn't taken his precious car, none of this would have happened! You have your own car for god sake." Ezekiel smirked, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "See, Rachel, even your own daughter knows you're the problem. You can't just come from whatever gutter my dad picked you up and take my stuffs. Act right!" My anger boiled over. "Shut up, Ezekiel! This is all your fault too! You and your stupid cars and your ego! Besides, you have no right to talk to my mother like that. She's old enough to be your mother." I turned back to my mother, my voice cracking. "We're not wanted here, Mom. It's obvious. Let's just leave and never come back. Being a widow is not that bad." Mom's face fell, her eyes filling with tears. "Hazel, sweetie, I didn't mean to cause any trouble. I just wanted to borrow the car..." But I was beyond consolation. "Just leave it, Mom. I know you don't care about how I feel. Suit yourself." And with that, I stormed into my room leaving my mother and Ezekiel staring after me in shock.
