Chapter Five

Birds were chirping, how odd. I stretched in my bed, my eyes shot open as I sat up, realizing who had slept in my bed last night. I glanced at the other side of the bed, only to find it empty. I sniffed the air for a hint of his scent, forgetting I couldn't smell anything. How could my mate’s scent make me so violently ill? He never did explain that last night. I am sure that he's not my mate either. My wolf giggled, of course now she feels like talking. "What are you not telling me?" I asked her. "Some things are for you to figure out yourself." She answered. More riddles. I blocked her out. Who needs that negativity? I casually walked to the bathroom, pulling out my makeup and curling iron. Then, the realization hit me. Waving my hand, I sent the curtains flying, slinging the windows open. I went flying to them, this is why the birds chirping seemed so odd. I slept in! What time was it? I scrambled for my phone. Ten forty five am. I growled. Half my day, wasted. I slung my hand up, slamming the windows. I can’t stand a late start to my day. "How do you do that?" Alpha asked. I screamed. My startled reaction causing me to send half a shelf of collectables flying across the room, crashing into bits. “Oh that was a change, I was starting to think you just had it out for the windows in here.” He chuckled. "Why do you insist on doing that?" I was panting, trying to recover. He was dressed in all black again. His black hair was smartly styled. He really was a gorgeous man. He was smiling at me as if he knew what I was thinking. “Let's get a fresh start today, shall we?" He asked, placing a tray of french toast, strawberries and all of the fixings in front of me. I could have melted. Food was most definitely the way to my heart. "I guess we had better if we are going to get to the bottom of all of this." I replied. He nodded. I ate quickly, while he asked questions about some of the pictures he had examined yesterday. He seemed particularly amused with my sports photos. I excused myself to get ready for the day, curling my hair, again, this time praying the Goddess wouldn’t see fit to cover me in pastry icing today. I listened for movement in the bedroom, but Mr. Alpha Almighty must have already went downstairs. When I deemed myself suitable, I pulled open the door, unexpectedly smashing into what must have been the Hulk Junior, who was blocking my path. I just knew my face was entirely broken. I rubbed my nose, glaring at the sandy blonde haired Goliath smiling at me. "Good morning to our new Queen! I am sorry about that, I was assigned as your guard, I forgot you might not be used to it, the name is Samuel, call me Sam." " Sam," I crossed my arms, “just a couple things, my name is Anna Claire, please call me Anna, and I am not your queen. I also do not need a guard." Sam kept grinning. “Yes ma 'am, I mean Anna, but I am afraid of what would happen if I refused my post to the King, I will try not to be a bother. The Gamma is traditionally the main protector of the queen, so I’ll have to obey the King on this one." I nodded. He seemed much less assertive than his crusty Alpha. “How is it you are the gamma and have manners but your King does not have and ounce?" I asked-His eyes widened. “He's not so bad once you get to know him." Sam said. "Hmm ',' I tapped my finger on my arm. “I guess we shall see." I decended the grand staircase, giving the omegas small nods as I passed by. I was not in the mood for pleasantries today. Millie wasn’t close by that I noticed, I’d have to look for her later. I peaked into the lodge room, and saw my parents nestled onto a sofa. My mother tossed her head back laughing, my fathers arm hung lose around her waist. Colten looked bored, slumped back in a recliner, undoubtedly wishing he was anywhere else. Alpha Asshole was seated on a sofa directly across from my Parents. They all tuned to lookat me as I approached. My parents greeted me warmly, Colten grimaced and rolled his eyes. I nodded at them before nodding to Alpha Wyatt. "Good morning, Alpha Wyatt, When will you be leaving?" Mother launched a couch cushion my direction. "Anna Claire! Your manners!" I sat on the arm of a recliner. The Alpha King’s eyes raked over me, he smiled hungrily. He could at least be more discrete about it. "My dear mate, we have much to discuss. Let’s get to it, why don't we?" I shrugged. The temperature in the room began to drop. A serious expression moved across his face. "Mr. And Mrs. Covington, given that you excluded all history courses from Anna Claire's education, could you please give her a small crash course in the prophecy that every other young werewolf learns about?" My parents looked stunned. “Well, I mean..." My father stuttered and stumbled, "Very well then, I believed I recall it well enough," Alpha Wyatt said. Once again he crossed his leg over his knee. Samuel had settled down on a bar stool behind him. Another slightly smaller, but still larger then average man was to the right of Alpha Wyatt, this was the same man that held him back in the kitchen. Maybe this was his beta? Alpha Wyatt began- Centuries ago, a seer from one of the Norther continents predicted the coming of a girl, who would be the likes of none others before her. She would be blessed with the abilities unlike any others of her kind, her blood being mixed of several species. Upon finding her mate and drawing from his strength, She would have the ability to unify all continents, all species, regardless of the ongoing rebellions. Though it would not be without difficulty. In preparation for the day she walked the lands, witches, fae and other species sought ways to prevent her from discovering her abilities, or even finding her mate. They cast spells putrifying her mates scent, numbing her wolf to the bond, binding her powers partially and other as well. It is said she would have white locks that shine, the light to her Mate's dark nature. She would have a servants heart, but the will of the strongest worrier. It also was said the extent of her abilities could not be known fully." He finally paused, and I looked at him in shock. "so again, I am curious as to why these courses were ommitted from your schooling.'' My mother's face was pale. My father spoke. "We could never be sure fully, but wanted her to live a normal life." "You are lucky your daughter was not targeted earlier. Mr. Covington.. So foolish of an Alpha." He was matter of fact in his tone I was overwelmed to say the least. “This is just too much." My parents were obviously annoyed, and equally it seemed was the Alpha King. "I had come to discuss an upcoming mating ball to be held at my castle, as we had high hopes of one day finding the mysterious girl. But here, I have found you." He had a small smile. " How did you know you were the girls mate?" I asked him. “I have my ways," he replied with a wink. “We will discuss further when we reach the Castle tonight." I threw my hands out, effectively opening all windows in the lodge room. Alpha Wyatt glanced around smiling, again with the windows, darling. It is getting personal.” He chuckled. "Excuse me, but what?!" I was pissed. My mother spoke. "Anna, honey its customary. You will find your bond with the Alpha King but to do that you have to go with him." “And what if I don't want to find it?” I snapped. The King growled- “Id Watch your tone my Queen, I am afraid I won't be taking no for an answer on this one." I could not believe what I was hearing, this was insanity.
