When my phone rang, and I saw Andrew’s name on the screen, my heart skipped a beat. For a moment, I thought of ignoring it, letting it ring out like I’d done countless times in the past, but something told me this call would be different.
I answered on the third ring. “Hello?”
“You went too far,” Andrew said, his voice low.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, feeling confused.
“Don't act clueless, Mirabella,” he snapped.
“If you call to talk nonsense, I will hang up now. I don't have time for this bullshit.”
“I’ll sign the divorce papers,” Andrew said. His voice was tight, as if the words were being forced through clenched teeth.
I blinked. “What?” I asked, still doubting if I heard him right or not.
“You heard me. I’ll sign.”
