Martin's POV
“It’s over,” I said to Mirabella.
I stayed back when Marcus took Luke away. He already knows the plan. I don't know how to start the conversation. I feel guilty for not believing her and I feel relieved that I caught Luke before he did anything stupid.
Mirabella didn't say anything. Her lips quivered, but no word came out. I hated that look in her eyes. It looked like fear and maybe disappointment. I knew I had disappointed her, I almost failed her.
I took a slow breath and crossed the room, lowering myself to sit on the edge of the bed, a few feet away.
“I shouldn't have doubted you. I should have listened to you,” I said quietly. “I should’ve believed you when you tried to tell me. I didn’t and I’m sorry.”
