The Alpha's Warning

Chapter 3: The Alpha’s Warning The air inside the forest was unnaturally still. Samantha stood frozen, her pulse thundering in her ears. Leonard’s hand gripped her wrist tightly, not enough to hurt, but enough to remind her she wasn’t going anywhere. “You shouldn’t be here,” he said, voice low and growling with barely restrained fury. “I didn’t mean to trespass,” she breathed, struggling to keep her voice steady. “I was just—exploring. I didn’t know it was… sacred ground.” Leonard’s golden eyes narrowed, glowing faintly in the dim light filtering through the trees. “You weren’t just exploring. The moon chose you. That makes this much more dangerous than you realize.” Samantha tried to step back, but he didn’t let go. “What do you mean, the moon chose me?” He studied her for a long, tense moment before releasing her wrist. “There’s a prophecy,” he said. “A blood pact sealed under the Blood Moon. The one who bears the mark… becomes bound to the Alpha.” Her stomach dropped. “Bound? As in… mated?” Leonard didn’t answer directly. Instead, he took a step closer, the heat of his body overwhelming. “You don’t belong in this world, Samantha. You’re human. And humans don’t survive long when they get involved in ours.” A branch cracked nearby. Samantha flinched, but Leonard didn’t move. His gaze remained locked on her like a predator assessing prey. “There are others who will sense your presence,” he continued. “They won’t be as… restrained as I am.” “Then why don’t you just let me go?” He leaned in, his voice brushing her skin like a threat and a promise. “Because I don’t know why the moon chose you—and until I find out, you stay close.” Samantha’s heart pounded. Everything about this man terrified her—and yet, a strange part of her felt drawn to him. To the forest. To the danger. As if something deep inside had been waiting for this moment her entire life. Leonard straightened, the harshness in his eyes softening just slightly. “You have no idea what you’ve stepped into.” He turned and started walking deeper into the woods. “Where are we going?” she asked, reluctantly following. “To someone who might have answers,” he said without looking back. “And if they’re right… you’ll wish you never came here.”
