Brielle P.O.V
As I sit in the soft glow of the moon lost in a book, enjoying the sounds of the nearby forest. I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and hear the faint sounds of some one behind me. As I turn around I feel the sharp heavy pressure as a knife sinks in to my shoulder.
I look up to see Owen smirk at me. Even from a distance you can tell he is a foot taller then me. His wavy blonde hair slicked back away from his face and eyes that resemble a frozen lake making him look almost angelic, emphasis on the word angelic. I pull the dagger from my back and inspect it, a letter opener, really?! I start to feel the warm liquid trickle from my shoulder as the wound starts to heal.
"Was that supposed to hurt?" I laugh and his smile widens.
"Of course not, like I'd actually hurt you." he says while rolling his eyes. "Had to get your attention somehow, plus finding new ways to bug you helps pass the time" he laughs while turning to go back into the house .
"So did you actually want something?" I ask, frowning as I inspect my shirt, guess thats going in the trash. urgh.
"We are all going out for a run and Elora said you should come, since you haven't been out all week" he says almost bored as he comes over to where i was sitting and lifts up my book and carelessly flicks through the pages barely giving them a glance.
"Why didnt she just come tell me herself, instead of sending you?" I say as I rip my book out of his hands and barge past him and go towards the house.
"Was that necessary?" he says as he falls into step with me.
"nope but neither was it for you to lodge a letter opener in my back." I quickly walk through the back door and head to the stairs and come to a stop when I see Everett leaning against the wall halfway up the stairs smirking at the state of my shirt.
"I see Owen chucked a knife at you again" he chuckles as he pushes himself off the wall.
"Aren't you an observant one" I mutter back as I climb the stairs and head towards my room.
"grumpy much?" he says as he follows me into my room and sprawls himself across my bed. I ignore him and head into my closet and rip the bloody t shirt off and toss it into the trash.
I quickly pull out a simple black tank top and walk out into my room with my boots
"You would be too if he kept ruining all your clothes. That was the fourth top that Owens ruined!" I grumble as I tie up my boots.
"Well then maybe you shouldn't get so engrossed in them books and then maybe you would notice him before its too late" he smirks as we both walk down the stairs to meet the others.
"whatever"
"Alright, lets go" says Amora as she comes out the kitchen with Elora.
As we start walking through the forest the smell of moss and wet bark fills the air around me and washs away the irratation i was feeling. Ever since I can remember the forest has been my safe haven whenever things got too much.
The sound of twigs breaking and the crunch of pine needles under our feet the only sound as we run freely amongst the trees.
"meet you there" Amora calls while sprinting off. I smirk and focus on running and feel myself let go while easily passing her and the others while dodging trees and bushes. I guess you could say being quicker then the others and healing almost instantly is a perk but in my case it sometimes feels like a curse when all I want to do is fit in. I never wanted to be this way, you see I've been this way for as long as I can remember, Im technically a vampire but Im still alive, no one knows why Im this way and no one knows who my parents are, Elora and Everett found me in the forest when I was a couple weeks old and I've been with them all since. I still require food but I also need blood to survive and need next to no sleep though it seems I need less and less as I grow older.
Too soon I've reached the cliffs edge and am brought out of my thoughts. I find my eyes drawn to the clear deep blue waters below, mesmerised with how the moon and stars reflect on the raging waves and how they crash against the rocks below. I stare and think how peaceful it must be at the bottom of them waves when the others finally come into the clearing.
"When will you learn, your never going to beat her?" Owen grins as he walks to the edge and sits facing the horizon.
"I know that you i***t, who said i wanted too?" Amora says as she rests her arm on my shoulder, her copper ringlets brushed back past her shoulders from the wind and grinning while glancing sideways at me with mischief reflecting in her emerald eyes. Her and Elora are like the older sisters I never got to have. They know me better then I know myself sometimes and are always there even when I feel alone.
"felling better?" Elora asks while cuddling up under Everett's arm while he leans against a tree at the edge of the clearing.
"What do you mean? I was fine before." I look over to her.
"Please, youve been locked in your room for two weeks, Bri" she sighs as she comes to sit next to me.
A harsh chuckle comes from Owen as he glares at Elora."how would you feel if everyone stared at you all the time Elora?" he stands and continues to glare at her.
"I know, asshole, but two more years of college and then we will leave this place and start new" she smiles, trying to cheer me up.
"Honestly its fine, I used to it remember?" I reassure them.
After what felt like hours of bickering and small chat, Everett comes over and pats me on the head.
"lets all head back, the sun will be up soon and you got to get ready for college" he suggests and starts to walk back the way we came.
I sigh and follow them.
Lost in my own thoughts I stare at the sky through the trees as it starts to lighten and turn a soft amber colour.
That's when I smell the most calming smell, the smell of pine trees and sea air, only stronger. Little did I know that we were bound and that it would be the end of one of us....
