I stared at Kira in both shock and confusion the minute she said she wanted to go to her father’s house. I couldn’t let her go there—I had no idea what the condition of that place was like. It’s been years since everything happened. No one has gone there or even bothered to do anything there. The place was probably locked and dusty by now, totally not fit for habitation.
I ran my hands down my face in exhaustion and looked at Darius and Dane to know if one of them knew what to say to her, but they were both silent, their faces expressionless. Still, I could tell by their tightened fists and panicked stance that they felt the same way I did.
