Chapter 13
Liam's POV
I was surprised that the queen did not blame Rachel for her garden being puked on. It looks like she is actually happy to know she has a granddaughter after her last heir passed away. But we all know we have our work cut out for us with an eighteen year old. At least she does not have to take over until the queen passes.
Lets hope that wont be soon. Rachel has been awfully quiet since we started our stroll in the gardens. I thought it was best that I talked further about everything where she can throw up at her leisure.
She looked up at me. "Why didn't you tell me my mother was still alive? Is she. You know, alright?"
I looked at her sadly. "Unfortunately she has gone into a great depression over the years after she had to give you up. Only William could still put a smile on her face. After William died she has not spoken a word. They were so in love which is surprising for a royal couple. She is very heartbroken... just give her some time."
It kind of breaks my heart that her mother can't meet her daughter without the depression getting in the way. "Rachel sorry to bring this up so soon. Mrs Ellis... The public knows that it wasn't your body in the crash. Since they know. The Castrel's will know. The news broke out while you had tea with the queen."
She looked down and I tried making a reassuring face. "But don't worry, we will try to establish the threat and put them behind bars before anyone else gets hurt."
She looked at me angrily. "Like you did for the past two centuries!"
I don't know what to say to make her feel any better.
I heard someone from behind. "Well. Hello."
Rachel's POV
I turned around and my eyes went wide. Oh no, not him! He was standing there all smug with a smirk on his face with his dark hair and dreamy green eyes. Wait what am I saying. He is so annoying. I tried not to show how annoyed I was.
He was waiting and looking at Mr Wallaby. "Aren't you going to introduce us Liam?"
I was surprised by hearing his name. It is actually better than Mr Wallaby.
Liam sighed. "This is Lord Chase Castrel and this young lady here is Lady Rachel Ellis."
My eyes went wide. Oh no, I was alone with a Castrel! My heart started racing.
Chase didn't seem surprised at my name at all. "Ah, the Lady that all the fuss is about. "Pleasure to meet your acquaintance." He bowed down giving my hand a sensuous kiss.
I wanted to rip my hand out from under his mouth. He lifted his head."Lady Ellis, would you like to accompany me on a horse ride in the near future?"
I was starting to show my annoyance. But before I could give him a piece of my mind Liam cut in. "The Lady will be very busy in the next few months and is currently grieving the loss of loved ones as you might have heard. "
I thanked Liam with my eyes for cutting in. "Oh yes, my condolences my dear. I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I also lost my father recently"
His eyes went a bid sad. Wait... does he actually seem like he means it? Or is he just that good of an actor?
Chase straightened himself. "Good luck with your new duties my lady" He bowed slightly. Winking at me while Liam wasn't looking. My cheeks went hot from anger and he smiled. "Good day Liam."
Liam slightly bowed. "Good day Sir."
