*Flashback*
A nurse accompanied us to the morgue. The moment we got there, I heard Calum told the nurse to leave us for awhile.
"Luke," I ran to his side. He was lying unconsciously. His eyes were shut close as if he was just sleeping but his body temperature was now a little colder. There were bruises all over his right arm and face. "Luke, wake up! Come on, Luke! Open your eyes now! This is not funny! Please! Like, please!"
"Miel," Calum said, as he hugged me. "He's gone."
"No," I said, pushing him away. "No, he can't. You guys are seriously kidding me, right? He told me to wait for him. We're getting married, Calum! You know that!"
"I know," he said calmly. He reached for my hand as he took out something from his pocket. He wore me a ring - the ring Like showed me just a couple of days ago. Our engagement ring. His eyes were filled with sadness and sincerity; "he told me when you said yes. How it felt so magical. Yes, I know everything."
"Then you know how much we love each other," I demanded. Tears were now blinding my sight. "You know and you let him die? For you? How can you be so selfish?!"
He bit his lower lips then sighed. "I know and I'm sorry, Miel. Go ahead, blame me. But I never asked him to save me. Believe me, I would have done the other way. But, remembering everything that happened, no one was supposed to be alive now. We will both get badly hurt. Maybe it was some sort of adrenaline rush that he had and he covered me to save me. I wish I know why. But I don't. I don't want him to die. I don't wanna lose my best friend. But the doctors said he'd be as good as dead too if he ever make it. He wants to be with you, I know, to spend his life with you. But not for you to take care of him forever. Before he passed out, he fought. He fought for you, Miel. But it hurts him so much. He was right there, beside me, calling out your name."
"Luke," I muttered, as he held my hands closer to him. I can picture everything he was saying. I wish I was there...
"Then," he continued, "he called me. He wanted to give you this ring. He was holding unto it the whole time. He wanted me to tell you how much you mean to him. How much he loves you. Until his very last breath. I don't know but, I guess, he knew it himself that he won't make it so he told me this; he wants you to live a happy life, Miel. The way it was when he was here and even now that he isn't."
He sighed, "he wants you to find someone who'll always be there for you and love you more than he ever did."
I looked at his cold body once more. Yeah, he must be sleeping, I thought. But it would now be a very long one. How can someone so sweet and kind, hard working and talented, gentle and loving just pass away? If
I'm dreaming, I want to wake up.
If I'm dreaming, this must be some nightmare...
