Chapter 105: The Prophecy Awakens

726 Words
The forest slowly returned to silence after the enormous shadow disappeared into the clouds. But the silence felt heavy. Dangerous. The warriors stood uneasily among the shattered trees, glancing nervously at the sky as if expecting the monstrous creatures to return at any moment. Commander Roran finally spoke. “We should return to the castle.” No one argued. The battle might have paused, but everyone could feel that something far worse was coming. Within minutes, the warriors escorted the villagers safely back toward the kingdom. Torches lit the dark roads as soldiers guarded every path leading to the castle. The Blood Moon still hung above them, glowing brighter than before. Inside the castle walls, the atmosphere had changed. Messengers rushed through the halls. Healers treated injured villagers in the courtyard. And guards doubled their patrols across the fortress. The kingdom was preparing for war. In the war council chamber, Kael stood before a large map spread across the stone table. Several generals surrounded him. Darius leaned lazily against a pillar nearby, though his eyes were sharp with attention. Aria stood quietly beside Kael. She still hadn’t recovered from the vision she had seen in the forest. Roran pointed to several locations on the map. “Scouts report unusual activity across the northern mountains.” Kael frowned. “Creatures?” Roran nodded. “Many of them.” Another general spoke. “And they’re moving toward us.” Darius sighed. “Of course they are.” Kael folded his arms. “They’re gathering their forces.” Then his eyes shifted toward Aria again. “And they’re waiting for something.” Aria felt nervous under their gaze. “You think they’re waiting for me?” Darius shrugged. “Based on what we’ve seen so far? Yeah. Probably.” Before anyone could continue— The heavy doors of the council chamber suddenly burst open. An elderly man rushed inside, leaning heavily on a wooden staff. His long silver hair flowed behind him as he hurried toward the table. Everyone immediately stepped aside. “Master Eldric,” Roran said in surprise. The old man was the kingdom’s royal seer, the only person capable of reading ancient prophecies. His face looked pale. “I felt it,” Eldric said breathlessly. “Felt what?” Kael asked. “The Moon’s power.” His eyes slowly turned toward Aria. The moment he looked at her, his expression changed. Shock. Fear. Recognition. “It’s true…” he whispered. “What is?” Kael demanded. Eldric slowly stepped closer to Aria. His ancient eyes studied the silver mark glowing faintly on her arm. Then he spoke words that froze the entire room. “The prophecy has awakened.” A heavy silence filled the chamber. Kael’s voice became dangerously quiet. “What prophecy?” Eldric took a deep breath. “Thousands of years ago, before the Lycan kingdoms were formed, the Moon Goddess chose a champion.” He pointed toward Aria. “The Moon’s Daughter.” Aria felt her heart pounding. “That’s what the creature called me…” Eldric nodded slowly. “Yes.” His voice lowered. “The prophecy says that when the Blood Moon rises and the ancient beasts awaken…” He paused. “…the Moon’s Daughter will return to decide the fate of the world.” Darius rubbed his temples. “I hate prophecies.” Kael’s eyes darkened. “What fate?” Eldric’s gaze turned serious. “There are two possibilities.” The room fell silent. “The Moon’s Daughter will either save the world…” His voice grew colder. “…or destroy it.” Aria stepped back slightly. “I would never destroy anything.” Eldric shook his head gently. “It’s not about what you want.” He pointed toward the Blood Moon visible through the tall castle windows. “The Blood Moon changes everything.” Thunder suddenly rumbled in the distance. As if the sky itself agreed. Far above the kingdom, hidden behind thick crimson clouds, the massive shadow returned once more. Its glowing eyes burned with anticipation. “The prophecy has begun,” the dark voice whispered. “And soon… the Moon’s Daughter will kneel before her true king.” The creature’s enormous wings spread across the stormy sky. “The Ruthless King Lycan.” Lightning flashed across the Blood Moon. And the coming war drew even closer.
