Chapter 78: The Devourer's True Form

785 Words
The battlefield trembled beneath the raging storm. Dark clouds spiraled violently across the sky, swallowing the moonlight in waves of shadow. Lightning flashed again and again, illuminating the devastated valley like brief glimpses of the end of the world. At the center of it all stood Dravoryx. The Devourer’s enormous body rose above the broken earth like a mountain of darkness. Cracks spread across his scales, glowing with deep crimson light as unstable energy leaked from his wounds. But instead of weakening him… The power around him only continued to grow. His burning red eyes fixed themselves on Aria and Kael. Now standing together. Now surrounded by their combined aura of silver and gold. Dravoryx’s deep growl echoed across the battlefield. “So… the Alpha King and the Moon’s Chosen have joined their power.” His massive wings stretched wider, stirring violent winds across the valley. “Do you truly believe that will be enough to defeat me?” Aria stood calmly beside Kael. Moonlight flowed gently around her body, but now the silver glow carried streaks of golden energy. The power between them moved like a living current. Balanced. Unified. Kael stepped forward slightly, his massive wolf form towering protectively beside her. His glowing eyes burned with fierce determination. “We don’t need to believe,” he growled. “We just need to stop you.” Dravoryx laughed. A deep, monstrous sound that rolled like thunder through the sky. “You still don’t understand,” he said. The crimson light spreading through the cracks of his scales suddenly intensified. His body began to tremble violently. The ground beneath him started to split open. Dark energy erupted outward like a volcanic explosion. BOOOOOOM! A powerful shockwave blasted across the battlefield. Warriors far away struggled to stay standing as the wind tore through the valley. Darius narrowed his eyes as he watched. “That… doesn’t look good.” Dravoryx slowly lifted his head. The crimson light covering his body spread further, crawling across his scales like burning veins. “You forced me to this point,” he snarled. His wings suddenly folded inward. His body began shrinking slightly. But at the same time— His shape started changing. The enormous dragon-like form began to twist unnaturally. Bones cracked loudly. Scales shattered and reformed. Dark flames exploded from his body. Aria’s eyes widened. “He’s transforming again!” Darius frowned. “No…” “This isn’t just a transformation.” “It’s his true form.” Dravoryx roared as his body reshaped itself. His wings became longer and sharper. His body became leaner but far more dangerous. Black armor-like scales formed across his chest. His claws grew longer like curved blades. Even his head changed shape, becoming more monstrous, more terrifying. The crimson light within his body pulsed violently. And when the transformation finally ended— The creature standing before them looked far more terrifying than before. Dravoryx slowly spread his newly formed wings. The storm above responded instantly. Lightning struck the ground around him. “This… is the form that devoured entire kingdoms.” His voice sounded deeper now. More ancient. More deadly. Kael growled low in his throat. “That monster just got stronger.” Aria could feel it too. The pressure in the air had doubled. Even with their combined power, Dravoryx’s presence now felt overwhelming. The Devourer lifted one claw slowly. Dark lightning gathered in his palm like a living storm. “You pushed me to reveal this form.” His red eyes burned brighter. “So now you will witness true destruction.” Without warning— He vanished. Aria gasped. “He’s gone!” But Kael reacted instantly. “Above!” Dravoryx suddenly reappeared in the sky, diving toward them with terrifying speed. His claws glowed with condensed storm energy. Kael leaped forward to intercept him. CRAAAAASH! Their collision shook the battlefield again. Kael’s claws clashed against Dravoryx’s. The impact created another massive shockwave that blasted dust and debris into the air. But this time— Kael was forced backward. His paws slid across the broken ground as he struggled to hold his ground. The Devourer was stronger now. Much stronger. Dravoryx’s monstrous grin widened. “Even together…” “You are still weak.” Aria stepped forward, her silver aura flaring brightly again. Moonlight gathered in her hands. “Not yet,” she whispered. Kael regained his footing beside her. The golden-silver energy between them surged again. Their bond pulsed stronger. Dravoryx watched them carefully. But this time… He didn’t laugh. Because deep down— Even in his monstrous new form— He could feel it. Their combined power was still growing. And the next clash between them… Would decide everything.
