Chapter 65: The Moon's Fury

577 Words
The battlefield fell into a strange silence. Even in the middle of war, the glowing light surrounding Aria forced everyone to stop for a moment. Silver energy swirled around her like a storm made of moonlight. The clouds above the valley slowly parted. Bright white light poured down from the sky. Every Lycan warrior stared in awe. “The Moon’s Chosen…” one soldier whispered. Aria’s eyes glowed softly as she raised her hands toward the sky. The crescent mark on her wrist burned brighter than ever before. Power flowed through her veins like a rushing river. Across the battlefield, Kael turned toward her. For the first time since the battle began, hope appeared in his golden eyes. But Dravoryx only laughed. The massive creature towered above them all, his dark wings stretching across the sky. “So this is the power of the Moon Goddess,” he growled. His glowing red eyes narrowed. “How disappointing.” Aria clenched her fists. The silver light around her intensified. “You’ll regret saying that.” Dravoryx spread his wings suddenly. A violent wind blasted across the battlefield, knocking several warriors to the ground. “Show me then,” he said. “Show me your power.” Aria didn’t hesitate. She thrust both hands forward. A massive beam of silver moonlight exploded from her palms. The attack tore through the battlefield like lightning. BOOOOOOM! The blast struck Dravoryx directly in the chest. The valley shook from the impact. Dust and glowing energy filled the air. The Lycan army stared in shock. “That… that must have destroyed him!” For several seconds, nothing moved. Then the dust slowly cleared. And Dravoryx was still standing. Aria’s heart dropped. The creature looked down at the smoking mark on his chest. A small crack had appeared in one of his scales. He touched it with one massive claw. Then he smiled. “Better.” His red eyes burned brighter. “But not enough.” Dravoryx suddenly opened his enormous jaws. Dark fire began gathering inside his mouth. “Now allow me to demonstrate true power.” Kael’s eyes widened. “Aria, move!” But it was too late. Dravoryx released the attack. A massive wave of dark flame shot across the battlefield. The ground exploded as the fire raced toward them. Aria barely raised her glowing hands in time. A silver shield formed in front of her. The dark fire slammed against it with terrifying force. The impact pushed her backward across the ground. The shield cracked. Aria gasped as the pressure increased. She couldn’t hold it much longer. Then suddenly— A massive black wolf leaped in front of her. Kael. He slammed into the ground, claws digging into the earth as he faced the Devourer’s attack beside her. Together they held the shield. The dark flames slowly faded. But the ground around them had been completely destroyed. Aria collapsed to one knee, breathing heavily. “That thing is unstoppable.” Kael shifted back into his human form beside her. “No.” His voice was calm but determined. “It can bleed.” Far away on the cliff overlooking the battlefield, Darius watched the destruction with fascination. His blue eyes reflected the burning battlefield below. “Excellent,” he whispered. Aria had grown stronger. Dravoryx had revealed more of his power. Everything was progressing perfectly. But neither side realized the truth. The war they were fighting… Was only the beginning.
