Chapter 72: The Light of Judgement

627 Words
The battlefield trembled under the weight of the growing power above them. High in the sky, the massive sphere of moonlight continued to expand. It glowed brighter and brighter, casting silver light across the valley. Everyone could feel the overwhelming energy gathering inside it. Lycan warriors shielded their eyes. Even the monsters hesitated. Aria stood beneath the glowing sphere, her body surrounded by flowing moonlight. Her silver eyes remained locked on Dravoryx. “This ends now,” she said calmly. The Devourer roared in anger. “You believe that light can destroy me?” His massive wings beat violently, sending waves of dark wind across the battlefield. “I am the Devourer of Worlds!” Dark flames erupted from his body again. The shadows around him twisted like living creatures. Kael slowly stood beside Aria. His injuries still burned, but he refused to stay down. “You won’t face him alone,” he said firmly. Aria glanced at him. For a brief moment, the powerful glow around her softened. “Kael… you’re hurt.” “I’ll survive,” he replied. Darius approached them as well, dusting dirt from his coat. “Well,” he said with a faint smile. “This is certainly dramatic.” Kael glared at him. “Don’t pretend you care.” Darius shrugged. “I care about surviving.” He looked up at the massive sphere of light above them. “And that attack might actually work.” Dravoryx raised his enormous claws toward the sky. Dark energy began gathering around his body again. “You think you’re the only one with power?” The shadows around him condensed into a swirling storm. Black lightning crackled through the air. Aria narrowed her glowing eyes. “He’s preparing another attack.” Kael growled. “Then we hit him first.” Aria slowly lifted both hands. The enormous sphere of moonlight above them pulsed like a heartbeat. Its glow became almost blinding. “This is the Moon’s judgment,” she whispered. Then she thrust her hands downward. “Fall!” The sphere dropped. Like a falling star. It crashed toward Dravoryx with unstoppable force. BOOOOOOOOOOM! The explosion shook the entire valley. Silver light erupted across the battlefield. Dark energy and moonlight collided violently. The ground cracked open beneath the impact. Warriors were thrown to their knees from the shockwave. For several seconds, the battlefield was completely swallowed by blinding light. Then the energy slowly began to fade. Smoke and glowing particles filled the air. Kael stared ahead. “Did we…?” The dust cleared. And there, standing in the center of the destroyed ground— Was Dravoryx. But something had changed. His massive body was covered in deep cracks. Several of his scales had shattered completely. Dark smoke poured from the wounds across his chest. He looked weaker. But he was still alive. The Devourer slowly lifted his head. His glowing red eyes burned with pure hatred. “You… will pay for that.” Aria’s expression turned serious. “That attack should have destroyed him.” Darius frowned. “That creature is more stubborn than I thought.” Dravoryx suddenly roared louder than ever before. The sound echoed across the mountains. Dark energy erupted from his body again. But this time it felt different. More violent. More unstable. Aria felt a chill run through her body. “What is he doing now?” Darius’s expression darkened. “He’s desperate.” Kael’s eyes narrowed. “That makes him even more dangerous.” The Devourer spread his wings wide. The dark storm around him grew larger and larger. “I will drag this entire world into darkness with me!” The sky above them cracked with thunder. Because the final stage of the battle had just begun.
