Morning arrived slowly over the Lycan kingdom.
Golden sunlight spread across the towering castle walls while the kingdom slowly came back to life. Guards changed shifts, servants moved through the halls, and warriors gathered in the training grounds.
But inside the castle, Aria had barely slept.
Her dream about the Moon Goddess still echoed in her mind.
And Darius watching from the balcony made everything feel even more dangerous.
A knock suddenly came at her door.
“Enter,” she called.
The door opened, and Kael stepped inside.
He looked different from the night before. Freshly bathed, dressed in dark royal armor, and carrying the same powerful presence that made everyone in the kingdom respect him.
But his golden eyes still looked serious.
“We need to talk,” he said.
Aria nodded.
“I figured.”
He walked further into the room and stopped near the window.
“You said the Moon Goddess spoke to you.”
Aria walked closer.
“Yes.”
“And she warned you about the Devourer.”
She hesitated.
“She said he’s looking for me.”
Kael didn’t look surprised.
If anything, his expression became more determined.
“Then we don’t have time to waste.”
Aria frowned.
“What do you mean?”
Kael turned toward her.
“You need to learn how to control your power.”
Aria looked down at her hands.
“That might be difficult since I don’t even know how I used it.”
“That’s exactly why we’re starting today.”
“Today?”
Kael nodded toward the door.
“Training grounds.”
Aria blinked.
“Wait… you’re serious?”
Kael raised an eyebrow.
“Did you expect the kingdom to survive on luck?”
She sighed.
“Fair point.”
---
Minutes later, they stepped outside into the castle’s massive training field.
Dozens of warriors were already practicing combat.
But the moment Kael appeared, everything stopped.
The warriors quickly stepped aside.
Aria noticed their curious looks again.
Whispers followed her across the field.
“That’s her…”
“The Moon’s Chosen…”
“She fought beside the king…”
Aria tried to ignore them.
Kael stopped in the center of the field.
“Stand here,” he said.
She obeyed.
Then he stepped back a few meters and crossed his arms.
“Now use your power.”
Aria stared at him.
“That’s your plan?”
“Yes.”
She threw her hands up.
“I don’t know how!”
“You did it once,” he replied calmly. “You can do it again.”
Aria groaned.
“This is not helpful.”
The warriors watching from the sides tried not to laugh.
Kael’s expression didn’t change.
“Focus.”
Aria closed her eyes reluctantly.
She remembered the battlefield.
Kael lying on the ground.
The fear.
The anger.
The desperate need to protect him.
Slowly, she raised her hand.
Nothing happened.
She opened one eye.
“See? Nothing.”
Kael frowned slightly.
“Again.”
She tried again.
Still nothing.
A few warriors whispered among themselves.
Aria sighed in frustration.
“Maybe the Moon Goddess made a mistake.”
Kael shook his head.
“No.”
Before she could ask why—
He suddenly moved.
In a flash, Kael shifted into his massive black wolf and lunged toward her.
Aria screamed.
Her heart exploded with panic.
The moment his claws reached her—
A burst of silver light exploded around her body.
BOOM!
A powerful wave of energy blasted outward.
Kael was thrown backward across the training ground.
The watching warriors stumbled as the ground shook beneath their feet.
Dust filled the air.
When it cleared, Aria stood in the center of a glowing circle of silver energy.
Her eyes burned with moonlight.
The crescent mark on her wrist shone brighter than ever.
Kael slowly stood up, shifting back into human form.
Instead of anger…
A satisfied smile appeared on his face.
“It works.”
Aria stared at him in shock.
“You almost gave me a heart attack!”
Kael chuckled.
“Fear triggers your power.”
“That’s your training method?”
“It’s effective.”
The warriors watching were completely stunned.
Commander Roran approached carefully.
“Your Majesty… the ground cracked.”
Kael glanced down.
The stone training field was split with long glowing fractures from Aria’s power.
His golden eyes returned to her.
And this time there was no doubt in his voice.
“You’re far stronger than we imagined.”
But far away in the dark forest…
Something else felt that power too.
A massive shadow stirred.
Golden eyes opened slowly.
Dravoryx smiled in the darkness.
“The Moon’s Chosen…”
His deep voice rumbled through the forest.
Soon we will meet.
