Chapter 3

1012 Words
As soon as the message was sent, Summer asked, "Who are you chatting with???" Emily honestly replied, "Frank asked me to leave with him." Summer's eyes lit up, like a fan of a couple who just got a sugar rush. She decisively said, "Then you go with him. I’ll take a cab home." Emily said, "What are you talking about? It’s too late for you to take a cab. I have to drive you." Summer was deeply touched by her friend’s loyalty, but after hearing Emily mention Frank, she decided not to add fuel to the fire of their already strained relationship. "Emily,Frank came straight from the airport to attend the charity gala, and the organizers didn’t even know he was coming. I really think he might be so eager to see you after being away for so long that he specifically came to find you." Emily responded coldly, "Impossible." Summer countered, "How is it impossible? Otherwise, why would he message you to leave with him?" Emily reported, "It’s just not possible. Stop guessing. I’ve already told him I have a driver picking me up. Let’s go." Summer felt frustrated and said, "A driver is not the same as a husband. Don’t you know how sought after your husband is, how many people want to be in his car…" Her eyes suddenly narrowed as she pointed out, "Look, Rachel is staring at your husband." Emily looked in the direction Summer pointed. Frank was standing with James, who tilted his head as if Frank had said something. James glanced toward Emily, his eyes showing understanding, and clinked glasses with Frank, "Next time we have a gathering, let’s bring your sister-in-law along." Frank finished his drink, set the glass on the table, looked at his phone where Emily had replied, and said flatly, "We’ll talk about it another time." James raised an eyebrow, looking at him with a teasing expression. Frank ignored him and walked over to Emily. Rachel, standing not far away, flicked her hair. Wearing a red strapless gown that showcased her cleavage, she approached Frank with a smile, blocking his path and extending her hand, "Mr. Frank, what a coincidence to meet you here." Her tone was familiar, but Frank didn’t even glance at her, signaling Sean instead. Sean quickly stepped in, blocking Rachel from from the media cameras, and said politely, "Sorry, Miss Rachel, but Mr.Frank has other arrangements. If you have any business, please make an appointment with SY." Rachel's smile faltered slightly when she heard Sean use her original surname, but she managed to keep her composure, "It’s not a big deal. It’s just that my father mentioned he wanted to invite Mr. Frank to our home for dinner. I happened to run into Mr. Frank here, so I wanted to ask when he might be free." Of course, the "father" she mentioned wasn’t her real dad but Mr. Ryan. With Mr. Ryan was involved, Sean hesitated for a moment and then asked Frank for instructions. Rachel maintained a confident smile as she faced the curious onlookers. She was certain that Frank would not turn down an invitation from Mr. Ryan. Most of the people present were from the entertainment industry. Just being able to talk to Frank was enough for them to speculate and give her good resources and endorsements. She lifted her chin and glanced at Emily, a blatant challenge. Frank frowned slightly and said, "Sorry, but I don’t know your father." The father he referred to was Rachel's biological father. His voice was calm, but Sean could sense Frank's impatience. Summer whispered angrily to Emily, "That white lotus is trying to seduce your husband. Go on." Emily crossed her arms and said calmly, "Frank doesn’t care about her." Just as the words left her mouth, Sean made a gesture for Rachel to leave. Rachel’s smile almost cracked, but she forced it, "Then Mr. Frank is busy, so I won’t disturb you." She turned and walked away, her high heels clicking on the ground with a proud gait, leaving others to guess whether she had truly been dismissed by Frank. "Was she sent away by Frank?" Emily pressed her lips together and replied, "Yes, it seems so." She couldn’t help but smile at the misfortune of Rachel. Even though she couldn’t hear what Frank had said, Rachel's attempt to embarrass herself was clear. Frank approached Emily, and as he passed in front of her, he casually said, "I’ll be waiting in the car for you." Then he walked out of the banquet hall. Emily was stunned for a moment before realizing he had already disappeared. Hadn’t she told him the driver was already picking her up? Summer said, "I told you your husband was specifically here to pick you up. You didn’t believe me, and now he’s asked you to go home with him." "He might not have seen my message just now. I’ll let him know again." Emily picked up her phone to call Frank, but Summer stopped her, "My home isn’t on your way, so don’t bother with the trouble. Just let your driver take me home, and you can go back with Frank. Is that okay?" Summer decisively made the decision. Thinking about how Frank had made Rachel suffer earlier, Emily felt so good she didn’t oppose. After leaving the hotel, Emily first had her driver come and take Summer home before walking to Frank's car. The driver opened the back seat door for Emily. Frank was sitting on the left side, his suit jacket unbuttoned, legs crossed, leaning back in a lazy pose. Under the dim yellow light, his deep, dark eyes were alluring. Emily got in, placed her bag between them. Frank suddenly turned his head, and Emily noticed his eyes had a slight reddish hue. His skin was very fair, and he exuded an irresistible charm. Emily stared at his face for a few seconds, and a deep voice cut through the silence, "Have you looked enough?" Emily snapped back to reality and bumped her head against the car ceiling.
