Nechemya had finally grasped the situation.
Dora had deliberately engineered the circumstances that led Yma and Yousuf to sleep together. He looked at Wrynn and whispered, "Well, since that's the case, let's just let Yma and Yousuf be together. Her best friend has been gone for so many years, and now it's not our fault but her daughter's unwillingness. We might as well go with the flow. If we let such a disgraceful thing marry into our family, it won't be peaceful for us."
Wrynn, her heart aching, glanced at her son and then at Dora. She sighed, "I'll follow your lead; I can't deal with this anymore."
Nechemya agreed, and then he looked at Dora, disdainful, and said, "Get her and take her to the police station."
As he spoke, several bodyguards walked in and moved to apprehend Dora. Zackaree was taken aback and quickly stepped in, "Come on, we're about to become family. There's no need for such a fuss. We can sort things out privately. Compensate where needed, apologize when necessary."
Nechemya's voice remained commanding, "Zackaree, more than my son was hurt; your daughter was too. You can't keep favoring her. Even if you don't help her seek justice, don't interfere either. Not every child is well-behaved. If it weren't for the fact that they're about to be engaged, Dora wouldn't even get inside a police station, useless thing!"
Zackaree glanced at the frustrated Yma and then at the defiant Dora. Finally, he didn't say anything more, which could be taken as a tacit agreement.
Nechemya instructed the guards, "Lock her in a room. Don't let her cause any more trouble."
With that, he left, followed by the rest of the group. Yma wore a smug smile and shot a provocative glance at Dora, then left with Bailey.
In the room, it was only Zackaree and Dora. She hadn't left; instead, she lounged against the wall, looking at Zackaree lazily. "You're helpless, aren't you? You have no other choice but to compromise."
Zackaree felt embarrassed and sighed, "What else can I do for your father?"
Dora chuckled, "If it were Yma standing here today, could you even go a sentence without speaking up for her?"
Zackaree fumed, "Yma would never do something as outrageous as you."
Dora raised a mocking eyebrow, her eyes full of disappointment, "Grandma used to say, at least you're my father. After she's gone, I'd still have you as family. But how come I feel like having a family member like you is worse than having none at all?"
Zackaree was momentarily speechless, and after a while, he gasped for breath, "Stay here for a while. Don't worry; I'll find you the best lawyer. With your case, it's just a matter of one or two years."
Dora's smile became even colder. She coldly uttered two words, "Get out."
Zackaree, who was initially compassionate, felt no more pity when he saw the audacious side of Dora. He should have never brought Dora back from the countryside. Now, whatever, let her stay here for a while, saving them the trouble of dealing with her every day. He left, and the room's door was closed.
Dora remained calm. She took out her black phone and tapped a few times. A simple screen projection appeared. She had initially considered letting them off lightly, but it appeared they really thought of her as a pushover. They were asking for trouble!
Flavio was watching Nechemya and his crew walk out of the lounge one by one, but there was no sign of Dora anywhere. He couldn't help but wonder, "Where's that woman? Is she planning to crash the party, or did she run off at the last moment?"
"Mr. Beyond!" Suddenly, a guy's voice cut through the air.
Flavio turned to look, and there was Nechemya, grinning from ear to ear, a far cry from the disdainful look he had just moments ago. "I never expected Mr. Beyond himself to grace us with his presence. What an honor!"
With that, he extended his hand toward Flavio.
Flavio gave his hand a limp shake and replied flatly, "Congratulations."
Nechemya was ecstatic. Beyond's family, Martin's family, and James's family – they were all century-old businesses, practically untouchable. Usually, he'd never have a chance to rub shoulders with them. But today, Mr. Beyond showed up at his event. It was truly mind-blowing.
He beamed with a servile attitude, "Thank you, Mr. Beyond. Please, have a seat in the VIP section."
Flavio glanced around once more in the crowd, making sure he didn't spot Dora. Then, he casually asked, "Is your son getting engaged?"
"Yes, yes," Nechemya replied, promptly bringing Yousuf and Yma forward. "This is my son, Yousuf, and this is my future daughter-in-law, Yma."
Both of them respectfully greeted Mr. Beyond.
Yma, curious about the man who had Nechemya wrapped around his finger, took a casual glance and couldn't help but notice Flavio's incredibly handsome face. She couldn't take her eyes off him.
This guy was drop-dead gorgeous!
Too bad he had a disability; otherwise, he'd make a great fling!
As she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard the man call her name, "Yma?"
Startled, Yma quickly looked towards the man, but Flavio wasn't looking at her. Instead, he turned to Lenell beside him and asked, "Is the name on the hotel entrance this one?"
Lenell respectfully nodded, "It seems to be Dora."
Nechemya panicked and explained, "Oh, it's a mistake on the hotel's part. They've already sent someone to correct it."
Flavio smirked, "Someone dared to make a mistake at Mr. Green's party, huh?"
Nechemya tried to appear magnanimous, "With so many people and so many things happening, mistakes are bound to occur. Mr. Beyond, please take your seat. The engagement ceremony is about to begin, and we need to prepare."
As they left, Flavio's expression turned darker, and he had a cold, unsettling smile on his face. It seemed like he was plotting something.
The engagement ceremony started.
Nechemya was surprisingly swift in changing everything from Dora's name to Yma's, even the photos. Though some in the audience questioned the sudden switch, most just whispered quietly.
After all, they weren't part of the families involved, so why should they meddle in who was getting engaged to whom?
The emcee spoke skillfully, "Good morning, everyone. Today is the joyous day of the engagement of Mr. Yousuf and Miss Yma. Now, please welcome the happy couple."
With cheerful music and applause, the couple made their way to the stage hand in hand.
The emcee continued, "Mr. Green, could you introduce each other?"
Yousuf took the microphone and sincerely said, "Hello, everyone. I'm Yousuf, and this is my girlfriend, Yma. I want to thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend our engagement. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors."
The emcee handed the microphone to Yma and asked, "Miss Triumph, how did you and Mr. Yousuf meet and decide to spend your lives together?"
Yma smiled sweetly and replied, "I met Yousuf about six months ago. The moment I saw him, I was captivated. He's handsome and caring, and we just fell in love. It was meant to be!"
Yousuf gazed at her with adoration, saying, "Yma is my dream girl! She's pure, kind, beautiful, and gentle. Being with her is the greatest blessing of my life!"
As their words rang out, the applause and admiration echoed throughout the hall.
Flavio, sitting in the audience, had a menacing look on his face. "Does that nasty gal just love picking on him?" he thought.
Suddenly, in the spacious hall, the sound system crackled twice.
Everyone was taken aback, wondering what was happening. Then, on the central screen of the stage, where Yousuf and Yma's photos were displayed, it was as if someone was manipulating the images. The screen shook for a moment and then switched to a surveillance video.
Flavio's lips curled into a faint smile, and he thought, "It looks like she's finally making her move!"
