FARHANA

I...I am," came Jane's reply. For a while she was left in dazed, staring at nowhere and not even knowing whoever the person might be was talking to her. It took only another minute when she realised the person who was giving support, chattering honestly and kind, is a certain face she didn’t like because of his talkative nature. Near the handrail, it took her other seconds that some 'thing' clicked on her. Jane began to shake. Deserell’s attention was focused on the female colleague, so he took notice that there seemed to be something wrong with her. A bit worried because the other was really in a heavy state of shock and loss from what had just happened, he was ready to try to comfort her but with no good expectation. He was suddenly slightly pushed away by Jane. "Go away." "Sister Jane?" "Don't come near me!" Yuheiyo joining in, asked out loud. "Where's Farhana?" It perfectly caught Deserell's attention to look around to see where his brother Far was, but he found out no one was there. Only Senior Lu, Senior Ji, Jane and another female who wore a bloodied white lab coat, which they had never met before. With the mysterious figure slashing the infected beast who was chasing the four people, it met its demise with his blade. Right there, silence fell on them as soon as the action noise was stopped. It becomes a tense atmosphere. "Senior Lu, where's Brother Far?" Deserell worriedly asks. "Why wasn't he with you? Did he run off by himself somewhere?" His following question was obviously absurd and impossible. It is known that the Farhana condition isn't favorable to their situation. How can he go running by himself when he has fallen ill and unconscious? He thought about what he said before. What about taking his brother Far now? When he was nowhere to be seen. He turned his head to meet Senior Lu's eyes, but the older guy avoided him. Why? Why aren't you meeting him? He felt a sick lurching in his stomach, dreading what would inevitable truth come out of these people's lips. Deserell might have been the patient one using his words to find answers, but not Yuheiyo's level of grounds. It was clear to him what could have possibly the seniors and female colleague have done to Farhana. It was just that this Deserell was an i***t to see that, or maybe he was trying to escape from the certainty. Yuheiyo thought back to another man before taking a sharp breath. . . he was trying to stay calm in this situation. "What happened to him?"Or in other words, what have you done to him? "Where is he?" "Senior Lu, I know you know more than anyone here what had become of Farhana." Yuheiyo is slowly losing the long patience of waiting for their silence. He had realised it was more frustrating than having the mysterious figure's one or two-word response. Eyeing the Senior Lu, Deserell added. "Senior Lu, please tell us where brother Far is?" "Died." "Died?" "How?" Yuheiyo wants more explanation. "We have decided to leave him to the other beasts, so we can run away, and it works." They have done it in order to survive. The only thing he was entirely sure of was no repentance at all, and Senior Lu wouldn't care to lie about this. "Why? Why, as if it sounded, we killed him?" Jane snapped, eyes glaring at the pair who didn't experience the chase of life and death. It frustrated her knowing how she was on the edge of death's door a while ago, while these two was safe and sound with a powerful being in their side. How is that fair? A sour and bitter feeling from the deepest part of her heart comes to the surface. She eyed Deserell with resentment. "You have no idea how it was, " Jane bit her lower lip hugging herself with her own arms, suddenly missing her lover's arms who used to hug her when she was about to cry. "Manuel was infected, and so was maybe Farhana. Type C- man-eating insect has penetrated Manuel's body, and before we knew what was happening, he was already screaming in agony. " It was still fresh in her memory how the lover was slipping sweet words next to her ears just to ease her emotions. Then, out of the blue, she was pushed away by her man, who screamed as if he was being burned alive, letting out cries that made someone's blood run cold, and she was helplessly left on the spot in utter shock. The next moment she had awareness was when she realized that her man was no longer there, but an insect with size similar to a human's head is newborn. It spread the large wings to fly out as if nothing had transpired, like an insect who leaves its cocoon, and there was left only the gruesome image of her man flattened on the floor with his ripped stomach. Jane remembers vomiting at the sight of that and trembling like crazy not hearing herself wailing. Shutting her eyes, she went on, yet hating to continue this subject. "Senior Park was caught carrying Farhana. His body fell on the floor, even though we wanted to go back on him, those hungry beasts were chasing us to become their meal or so, it left us no choice but to leave him on that floor. And, you cannot blame us for that, we want to continue living, after all." Who wouldn't want to survive? Humans are selfish creatures, and when they meet a life-threatening situation, they have these instincts to strive through no matter what the cost. And them—they have only chosen to stay alive. "Well, you made your choice, and I will choose mine." Yuheiyo said it. "What does it mean?" Jane frowned. "It means what it is meant." Yuheiyo eyes swept over Deserell who was abnormally quiet, thinking maybe the little i***t is too shocked to say something. Then he gaze down once again to the other two seniors, not forgetting the unfamiliar female who has joined their group. "I will go take a look for Farhana, and we can meet after on the rooftop for the military rescue team to come and let us out of this place." He announced, giving away the communicator device at Senior Lu who caught it when it was thrown over at his direction.
