THE UNTOLD STORY BEGINS, LEGENDS (REVISED)

1523 Words
"WE ARE GOING TO DIE!" Horror to his trembling lips, let out a broken cry. The young male researcher's disheveled figure hid and hugged his colleague's right arm without feeling embarrassment. At this moment, the current situation can only be described as bad news; there are no escape doors, no communication signals, and spare bullets have gone deep inside the rotten flesh. Farhana Vani, a newly recruited student from the Natural Researcher Academy who was also chosen as assistant leader with his anticipation for work, had never thought that his team would encounter deaths as soon as they set foot on the Earth's surface. "Don't say such unlucky things." He smiled bitterly, peering out at the towering glass of Station 15's main base's control system office. From such a height, you cannot see what is happening below, but what ongoing chaos and destruction happening outside was not for the faint of heart. Farhana Vani closes his eyes, as if recalling the previous scene, and wishes he could ignore the choking sobs from some of his colleagues in this dimly lit room. Then asking himself internally if his decision to come here was worth the thought. "Ah! Look! Graded Monster! " Someone cried out in near-hysteria, having caused everyone in their comfortable seats to flinch. "It's definitely a graded one!" "Damn...are we really going to die here?" "Outside, there are a lot of grade B-level monsters coming into the base." Looking down, one is walking, two are side by side, and more are coming straight. "Too many...so many are on their way!" "I don't want to die! I don't want to die! I don't want to die!" "Sh...quickly shut her up!" Another student yelled in frustration, clearly disdainful, glaring through the shadows at the only female in their group. They're all hiding in this room in order to have a little chance to stay alive, yet this noisy girl is making too much noise. What if the monsters sense them? Will they be able to make it through the night until some godly savior comes? Of course not! They knew exactly what kinds of monsters were roaming outside the world and over the attacked Station Base 15. Everyone inhaled and exhaled nervously. Trying to look through the curtains, trying to catch a glimpse of those Graded B-Level Monsters, even though, from afar, the distinctive features are the reminders; the large deformed body is all mutated flesh from the high-level zombie that continues to merge together in order to survive, and this ugly creature was formed way taller than any humans, with them being three meters in height. Humans standing next to it have many disadvantages, such as looking weak and easily crushed. Worse than that. There is no ordinary human that can counterattack such creatures without the use of lethal weapons on hand, so what are them? They're just newly graduated students with no prior military combat experience! "What should I do? I thought I was ready to die when I chose to come out of the underground city, but why am I still feeling unwilling to die and scared?" Deserell, who had spoken about everyone's death earlier, murmured solemnly. He hugged himself, ugly tears began to fall from his eyes. Thinking about what kind of death awaits his short life. Will he become monster food, perhaps crushed like a sandwich? It's revolting and disgusting! Unacceptable! He still wants to live longer, marry a beautiful fairy-like girl, and have a lot of big fat boys. However, looking at his colleagues, it was clear that some of them had already accepted an ill-fated end. They can't get away from a monster who exists solely to haunt humans. "If only our legendary heroes were real..." Deserell found himself crying unknowingly again. "What? Do you still believe those kinds of crappy stories?" said the guy who told the hysterical girl to shut up, mockingly. He stared at Deserell as if the other was an i***t who had appeared. "Don't believe in some nonsense childhood fairy tales. You're not a kid anymore," he added, almost rolling his eyes. Farhana cast a cold glance. He seems to know very well what the other is saying. Fairy tales? But, it wasn't one of those childhood fairy tales in which you marry a prince charming and live happily ever after. Instead, perhaps the other knows it as well, and there is a high probability everyone around him is aware of it. For those who survived the darkest days of mankind, the horror of "Last days", this is a kind of fairy tale that many elderly people like to speak about. They have been telling it to their children with fear and amazement, and it kept continuing to be passed down through many generations until the present. Farhana Vani, who is likeable, obviously heard it from his very own Grandfather. His grandpa told him about the story of “ Esperanza De Supervivencia"—a tale about humans who gave up their humanity at will. "Believing in them is not a sin!" Deserell exclaimed angrily. "Are you thinking that believing in those who don't even exist will save you? Tell me, can your fictional character save you now?" retorted the other young man, looking over at the grown-up Deserell, who was crying beside Farhana. Then he continued, hissing and gritting his teeth in disgust, saying, "Even the old masters and teachers can't say a damn thing about them, so what kind of nonsense are you talking about?" Everyone was going to die if they stayed here any longer, and none of these idiots are even trying! Even had the audacity to believe in such an old fairy tale from a century ago! No one can even talk about it, whether the story is true or just the product of gloomy days' wild imagination. That damned tale wasn't going to help them see the sun the next day. "If they've been real, this world won't like it to begin with, right?" Someone added, faintly smiling. No one can refute that statement, they knew it in their hearts. If the story is true, they should not be living in a world infested with unknown viruses, uninhabitable environments, natural disasters, mutated zombies, animals, plants, monsters, and other dangerous creatures. It is a place of death and despair. So, how can those fictitious characters from their grandparents' stories be serious? What about the world wherein mankind once lived in harmony? Thinking of a long-distant beautiful world, connecting them back to the first time they heard that old story. Mirroring the land of heaven between the two different worlds. It is also known for the color of blue with lots of soft-looking clouds that are rarely seen by present-day humans. Trees that are green. Mountains that are massive. Birds chirp and sing in the morning, and the night sky is full of wonders. Everything was so wonderful back then, with all the blue oceans covering the planet and people sharing smiles and laughs without fear. However, the sight of invaders from a faraway star had ripped this picture apart; without warning, they had immediately set the world on its grave within a year. Just enough to make humans believe that the threat of being has ceased to exist. For humanity, such annihilation created the greatest fear—extinction. And that is the certain moment where the darkest days are too difficult for people to kill themselves on their own, so for some remaining humans, in order to continue, they choose to do what they're very good at, being selfish, and soon the selfishness takes over them. Making a path for the Esperanza De Supervivencia to begin, and the humans had finally succeeded in creating their last chance of survival. Then an ear-splitting noise rang through everyone's ears, drawing everyone's attention at the same time. Notwithstanding their trembling hearts, no one can hide their curiosity any longer. They quickly peek between the curtains with careful movements. Under the moonlight's guidance, a lonely figure in the air can be seen descending from the sky on the three-meter hideous monster's head, quickly slashing the large flesh with a weapon resembling the shape of Grim's reaper scythe, and taking another jump high enough to think it was floating in the wind, and another s***h was made. It appears to be both stunningly beautiful and terrifying. This time, said Graded B-Level Monster, they are disfigured bodies as they are cut into large parts falling everywhere. The lone figure then decided to move again, his strange clothes fluttered through the wind, jumping and having to step on a particular spot on the monster's body. Bewildered stares out coming from the darkness. Many eyes were fixed on the figure from beginning to end, but none of them could react. What? What exactly is that, and is it even a human? If so, who is that person? Somewhere in the back of their minds, old memories and solemn voices resurfaced. "They are known as—-No Longer Humans, and they are people who choose to give up their humanity for a slim chance of survival."
