Reign’s eyes widened as he observed every movements he did, different thoughts popped into his head constantly. His unwavering attention panned into one person, Malachi.
His voice echoed into Reign’s head, maybe, just maybe he was the silhouette they saw the other night. But what is he doing there, that exact moment? And, where did the body go?
After Malachi sat down on his usual seat, their teacher entered the room, with unusual different kind of mood.
“Zoey will be absent for today, she’s not feeling well and have to see a doctor.” He said while looking at everyone, standing at the middle.
Then shortly after that announcement, they began their usual boring class as Reign said.
“What am I even doing here?” Reign asked silently not waiting for a reply. As he watched everyone religiously listen to their teacher while taking notes.
Then suddenly a scream broke the room’s silent atmosphere, a girl sitting at the other side corner of the room, screamed. Her face looked pale, facing the ceiling.
That fearful screamed caught everyone’s attention, including Reign. As they looked at the girl, they noticed something odd. Her face was covered in something red droplets and she’s staring at above, with her expression telling one thing, she’s scared.
“Are you okay?” Their teacher asked as he walked towards that student hurriedly.
With her hands shaking, she pointed above, everyone’s eyes attracted into her finger, and their eyes fixed on the ceiling.
Everyone gasp for air as they witnessed something horrifying, that part of the white ceiling was covered in dark red blood, blood dripping from the tiniest cracks and falling towards that girl’s desk.
“Get away from that seat.” The teacher yelled with a panicked tone, as he dashed out the room calling for assistance.
Everyone stood up, shaking, and confused but didn’t break their attention on that red ceiling.
“What the… Don’t tell me that’s what I think it is?”
Reign said while staring above, having this uneasy feeling.
He then looked at the front and noticed something more horrifying, Malachi’s facial expression.
His eyes, usually full of joy, widened in disbelief. His mouth parted slightly, but no words came out, only the short and shallow uneven breath. His hands, once trembling, balled into fist.
It's the expression of someone that has been fully exposed.
After seeing that, Reign stood up and took a step forward towards that bloody seat, grabbing a long broom on his way.
Then, he took a full swing aiming towards the ceiling. With each swing full of emotions he cracked the ceiling little by little, and with the cracks began to widen, an eerie sight welcomed everyone.
“What the hell is that?”
For a moment no one moved, holding their breath as Reign took the final swing, then everyone caught a glimpsed, of a pale, bloody face staring blankly down at them.
The whole room went into chaos, others was too stunned to speak, while others shouted their fears out.
“Is that a person?”
“Who is that?”
“Someone call the teacher, hurry.”
With everything in chaos, only Reign did not moved an inch. With the head of a lifeless girl, peeking just right above him, dripping blood towards his head, his eyes was looking into someone else, Malachi.
Standing feet away from each other, their eyes met. Reign’s eyes was full of emotions while Malachi’s eyes was fearful. Is he scared because he’s been exposed? Or it is because he knew it was just the beginning?
The teachers then arrived, climbing and pulling the cold body out of the ceiling. They carefully placed the body on the floor like what a mother will do with her infant. Their hands were trembling, their whole body felt goosebumps as they fixed the girl’s hair and slowly recognized the body.
“Jhane? Jhane?” A girl shouted from afar, her voiced echoed inside the classroom. Her friends stopped her from going near the body. She wept her heart out before passing out.
Everyone that knew the girl’s personality shed a tear or two.
She’s a nice girl.
Who did this?
May her soul be properly rested.
After the ambulance arrived, the room was emptied. Yellow tapes surrounded their classroom’s entrances, police officers and detectives roamed around trying to find a clue about this heinous crime.
Everyone from Jhane’s classr was interrogated by the officers, and next in line was Reign’s class.
“ We’ve heard that you’re the one who broke the ceiling. Is that true?”
“Yes” Reign answered firmly.
“Did you knew that a human body was there? Before you even broke that ceiling?”
“It was my gut that told me. The blood dripped for a long time, so I was certain it wasn’t from someone with a small stature.”
The officer looked directly into Reign’s eyes, waiting for something that will give a hint of lying, but he found nothing. Instead, he noticed Reign’s quivering lips and pale face.
He's just a kid. The officer sighed, he pitied Reign for witnessing something horrifying at a young age.
“Sorry for asking you these stupid questions. You can go home now and rest.” The officer said calmly.
Reign stood up and bowed, then left the room.
He went home to get some shut eye and rested for a few hours.
“HELP! HELP! Please help me!” A girl shouted.
But she’s nowhere to be found.
Reign woke up inside a pitch black room, he roamed around trying to find light.
But instead he came across a horrifying sight.
A girl dressed in red crawling towards him.
With her every step forward, a trail of blood was left and visible.
“Are you okay?” He looked down and asked.
“Why did you do this? Why me?” The girl screamed.
With her face covered in blood, Reign still recognizes her.
It was Jhane.
Then he suddenly got a burst of adrenaline shot into his veins and woke up.
It was just all a dream.
Drenched in sweat he got out of his room. With his every step, the whole world just keep spinning. He was dizzy as drunk. He lost his footing and landed straight into the bathroom.
Looked into a mirror and washed his face with cold water trying to wake up his consciousness.
“I look pitiful.” He said while looking at his reflection.
He brushed his uneven hair and rubbed his eye bags praying it would just come off.
His eyes are dead and his heart beat terribly.
Then he noticed that it was already night time, he decided to took a stroll outside trying to ease his mind and catch some fresh air.
After a while of walking, without him noticing his feet brought him to a familiar yet eerie place, Santa Fe High School.
The air was thick and suffocating, reminding him of that night. As he watched the School at front, these urgent emotions jumps into his body back and front.
Telling him to go inside, maybe he will find something, something useful. His feet was just an excuse , he came prepared, with a flashlight into his pocket waiting to be use.
Maybe it was just his excuse, maybe these emotions we’re telling him to find something he can use against Malachi.
After gathering the right amount of courage, he took a giant leap and climbed the gate with ease.
The atmosphere inside the building was still the same, the tree branches scratching into the windows causing a screaming like noise.
As he walking into the empty corridors, he felt something odd. With each step he took, he felt something was following him. These silent foot steps are clear into his hearing.
He didn’t have the courage to look behind and picked up his pace. But the steps continue to followed him.
He stopped, and so is the noise, he took a deep breath and slowly turned his head back.
“Where are you going?” a face jumped in front of him with an eerie voice and a creepy smile.
