Chapter 5 Two days later Zoe loaded her stuff back into Lorna’s SUV. She had way more stuff than Lorna, which seemed kind of strange. They were almost in the same situation, leaving an old life behind and starting a new one. But Lorna had only a suitcase of clothes, her laptop bag, and a big purse, and that slightly mysterious plastic crate in the SUV that she said was books. Maybe she’d shipped other stuff on ahead to this house in Long Island. Or maybe she was truly leaving her baggage behind. More effectively than Zoe.
