Chapter Two

1255 Words
VALERIE. I couldn't believe it. I had been reborn right before I made the decision that ruined my life for a whole five years and caused my own death. Standing from the ground, I lifted my hands, hitting Delaney across the face. “You backstabbing witch.” Was the first thing that came out of my mouth after the realization. “W-what has gotten over you, Valerie? How could you hit me?” She questioned, tears welling up in her eyes and I knew it was all fake tears. She could call it at anytime if she wanted and I have seen a lot of it in my last life. “There's something I would like you to know Delaney. I know very well that you and Robert are secretly seeing each other and not that I care because you two can rot in hell for all I care.” I spat in her face, ripping the wedding dress on me into a much comfortable fit as I headed out of the room. I called my lawyer to get me some papers immediately and as I waited for her to arrive, I started to think back to everything. I had been a fool for years, thinking day after day that he would get better. Robert treated me like I was his world when we just got together and after realizing we were mates, he treated me even better than he used to, I felt like everyone was lying to me when they told me he was evil and were just jealous of me. All because of him, I lost everything. My dignity, my position in my family and my unborn child. Clenching my fists, I saw my lawyer walking in and without saying a word, she handed me my papers as I stormed to the already filled wedding hall. As I threw open the doors, I could see Robert already standing there and I could guess they were about to call on me to step into the hall. “I object to this mating ceremony.” I called out, walking down the aisle with anger evident in my expression. As I reached within range to Robert, I hit him across the face as I flung the papers in his face along with an envelope filled with his pictures with Delaney, having an affair. “I have done nothing but love you, Robert. Now you want to use me for the little boy made me have? I am no longer a fool, Robert. I am calling off this ceremony.” I said, turning to leave as I pulled out the ring he had given to me, throwing it go the ground. “And one last thing, Robert.” I stopped, turning my head to catch a glimpse of him. “I, Valerie Green, reject you as my mate.” The whole hall went silent as I said that. Walking out of the hall, I let out a sigh of relief with tears rolling down my cheeks at the same time. I finally did it. I was able to avoid my own death and now, I have to face the real life I was meant to live. “Where to miss?” The taxi driver asked me. “Take me to the Green family estate please.” I requested and he nodded before driving off. Looking out through the window I watched as we passed by places I have made memories with Robert. Memories which was all a lie to him. How could he live that long knowing he was lying to me and only planned on using me? Tears started to roll down my cheeks again but I hurriedly wiped it away. I can't let him win. I have to go back and pay him back for everything he did to me. My phone started to buzz and I looked down to see the name of my best friend displayed as the caller's ID. Emma. She was part of the people I cut off just because I wanted to get married to Robert. The only reason I became close with Delaney was because she was the only one I was friends with who supported me. “Her bestie.” I heard her calm voice on the other side. “I'm so proud of you. You finally came to your senses, I knew you would.” “I'm so sorry Emma. I'm so sorry for everything.” I said, trying to hold back tears. “It's fine bestie. Meet me tonight if you can.” She said with a small giggle. “We'll just have to get your mind off Robert for as long as possible.” I chuckled gently, knowing how wild Emma could be. She would definitely come up with one of her wild ideas to have fun and I couldn't lie that I didn't miss her. “Sure bestie. I'll see you tonight.” I promised with a smile. “We're here, miss.” The driver announced and I stepped out of the car, looking up at the towering mansion which was just a few minutes walk away from the gate. I headed inside and immediately I got to the front door, the maids immediately bowed upon seeing me and standing there was sthe last person I wanted to meet first. “Seems like you're back.” My grandmother said, looking at me from head to toe as she shifted her glasses up the bridge of her nose. “I expected you to come crawling back when you run out of money.” “Mother, don't talk to her like that. This must have been hard on her.” I heard my mother's voice and she rushed over to me, pulling me into a warm hug. The hug I always wished was with me back then and I wouldn't have cried myself to bed in my pillows every night back then. “I'm sorry mom.” I burst into tears, hugging her back. “I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you angr grandma. I should have just rejected him back then and taken over the family business.” “Well, you can't now.” I heard my grandmother say casually. “You've wasted four years of your life dating that man and now you might end up without a man after rejecting him. What you should have done years back and gotten married…” “Not now mama.” My mother snapped at her mother before turning to look at me. “Come in my love. Let's get you freshened up and we can all talk over lunch.” I nodded gently and my mother led me up to my past room which I was shocked to see that it was still the same way I left it. “I'll ask the maids to bring in fresh clothes for you. Lunch is ready, so you'll meet us at the table.” She smiled before walking away and I looked around the room, inhaling the sweet scent of lavender. “I was a fool to give up all this for the one who doesn't even value me.” I mumbled to myself before heading into the bathroom and after dressing, I headed out of the room to the dining hall. Looking up at the large family picture on the main stairs, a smile appeared on my lips as I looked at my aunt's picture. “Valerie Green is back in the family, loser.”
