After sending Max off, Frank called Taylor into his office.
At that moment, Frank changed from his usual stern self and smiled at Taylor, saying, "Taylor, this partnership is thanks to you. My uncle was too impulsive just now! How about this—you'll be in charge of the branch factory."
Frank pulled out a stack of documents from his drawer and handed them to Taylor. "You'll be responsible for the production work of the MetroDynamics Inc. order. If you do well, I'll give you a hefty bonus."
Taylor felt uncomfortable with her uncle Frank's sudden friendliness but mustered up the courage to say, "Thank you, Uncle Frank."
Then Zac accompanied Taylor to the Steelhaven Factory in the west of the city.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lee, just out of the hospital, was smashing cups in his office in frustration. His face was grim as he looked at the glass shards on the floor, filled with hatred. That kick from Jacob meant he could no longer fu*k women.
Mr. Lee was consumed with thoughts of revenge at that moment. Suddenly, his phone beeped with a notification. He checked to find a message from Ted: [Taylor and her fiancé were heading to Harper Group's west city factory.]
He sneered and abruptly stood up, summoning eight strong men, commanding them in a low voice. "Grab your tools and follow me to the west city factory. I'm gonna deal with Taylor's fiancé and make her a widow!"
Just as Mr. Lee and his men were heading toward the factory with an intimidating presence, Taylor was ready to work.
The Steelhaven Factory was Harper Group's first factory, but due to reduced funding in recent years, the buildings were run-down, and the equipment was outdated.
At that moment, all Taylor saw were three hundred workers and three hundred old machines.
The factory's poor conditions didn't dampen Taylor's spirits; she was confident, wearing a determined smile. Standing among the workers, she raised her fist and encouraged everyone, "Please believe in me! Even though this is my first time managing a project independently, I'll lead you to do a great job!"
Zac watched Taylor with admiration, hoping that the woman he liked would have her own career and do what she loved.
Zac knew that Frank and his son wouldn't let Taylor off easily. But that was fine; he was there to protect her.
To motivate the workers, Taylor promised, "Let's all put in some extra effort to complete the MetroDynamics Inc. order. Once we finish, I'll request a bonus of three thousand for each of you, plus three days off!"
It seemed Taylor was quite suited for leadership; she understood that just shouting slogans wouldn't help; she had to provide the workers with tangible benefits.
Sure enough, when the workers heard about the bonuses and the time off, they all shouted, "Thank you, Mr. Harper! We promise to get the job done!"
The workers immediately got busy. They praised Taylor among themselves, "This Mr. Harper is way better than that Ted, who only knows how to shout slogans."
"Zac, get out here!" Suddenly, a loud voice shouted from the factory entrance.
The workers peeked over and were instantly scared. They saw eight big men brandishing sticks, banging on the iron gate. Behind them stood Mr. Lee, leaning against a car.
Taylor saw the menacing group and immediately turned to Zac nervously. "Mr. Lee is here to cause trouble! Don't go outside."
Gritting her teeth, Taylor headed for the door, saying, "I'll talk to Mr. Lee and see if we can settle this."
Zac reached out and pulled Taylor behind him, saying, "How can I let a woman handle this? Besides, he's injured pretty badly; he probably won't agree to a truce anyway."
"What do we do then?" Taylor asked, starting to panic.
Zac calmly replied, "Don't worry; I've got this."
He didn't think twice about Mr. Lee and his men, as he had already seen Jacob approaching.
Jacob strode up behind Mr. Lee and mockingly said, "Wow, Mr. Lee, you're out of the hospital so soon?"
Mr. Lee turned around to see Jacob grinning at him and instantly flew into a rage. "You won't leave here standing today!"
Mr. Lee pointed at Jacob and ordered his men, "Forget about Zac; deal with this guy first!"
The eight men with sticks charged toward Jacob, shouting.
"Zac, your friend…" Taylor's worried words were cut off as she gasped in surprise, covering her mouth. Her cherry-red lips formed a perfect O of astonishment, looking incredibly cute.
Jacob kicked hard, his military boots striking one of the thugs' sticks. The stick snapped, and the thug was sent flying with a kick. He crashed into another thug, causing five of them to tumble down in an instant.
Jacob kicked again, sending another thug flying. The thug fell and knocked down a comrade.
Facing the last thug who stepped forward, Jacob delivered a sharp slap, hitting the thug squarely in the neck. The thug didn't make a sound and fell straight to the ground.
Taylor couldn't believe it. "He's so strong!"
Zac affectionately patted Taylor on the shoulder, saying, "I'm even stronger than him."
"You're lying," Taylor pouted.
Seeing Taylor's adorable expression, Zac softened his look and said, "I never lie, especially not to you."
"I almost forget you're a soldier," Taylor suddenly realized, then added, "Zac, this isn't a battlefield. In the future, try to avoid fighting; there are always other ways to resolve things."
Zac just smiled lightly without making a clear statement.
"You're really bold! Even if you can defeat eight people, do you think you can handle eighty?" Mr. Lee cursed, "Just you wait!"
Jacob frowned and said, "Mr. Lee seems to have forgotten. Did you forget what I pointed at you with that day?"
Mr. Lee scoffed, "Don't think that fake gun can scare me. Zac, that useless son-in-law, how could he possibly get a real gun?"
Jacob was speechless and strode towards Mr. Lee. He grabbed Mr. Lee's shoulder and dragged him toward his SUV. With a loud click, the trunk popped open. Jacob forcefully pushed Mr. Lee forward.
"Open your eyes and see what these things are!"
After seeing what was in the trunk, Mr. Lee was instantly dumbfounded. The trunk was neatly lined with a row of submachine guns, a row of handguns, a powerful sniper rifle, boxes of ammunition, and even a box of grenades. It was like a mini arsenal.
"Get closer so you can see clearly!" Jacob pressed down on Mr. Lee's head.
Mr. Lee's face trembled as it pressed against a row of grenades. He felt the steel texture and smelled the scent of gun oil.
