Chapter 5:Missing

768 Words
It had been two days since Ann's parents, Nora and Kevin, had last seen their daughter. She was supposed to come back home from university, but they hadn't heard from her. They've already reported her missing to the police, and the authorities are doing everything they can to find her. As they sat in the police station, Nora's eyes were red from crying. Kevin's face was etched with worry. They had been asked to wait, but it was getting harder by the minute. As they waited, they noticed other families coming in, reporting their loved ones missing. A young woman, sobbing uncontrollably, was being comforted by a police officer. A middle-aged couple was filling out a report, their faces pale with worry. Nora's eyes met Kevin's, a shared fear burning in them. What was happening? Why were all these people missing? The police station was chaotic, with officers rushing back and forth, trying to keep up with the influx of reports. The air was thick with tension and worry. A police officer, a kind-looking woman with a sympathetic smile, came over to them. "Mr and Mrs Wilson, I'm so sorry. We're doing everything we can to find Ann. Can you tell me more about her disappearance?" Nora's voice shook as she recounted the events of the past two days. The officer listened attentively, her expression growing more serious by the minute. As they spoke, the police station grew more crowded. It seemed like everyone was looking for someone. The TV in the corner of the room flickered to life, a news report breaking in. "...reports of a series of disappearances across the city. The police are urging citizens to remain calm, but sources indicate that the disappearances may be linked to a sinister plot..." Nora's eyes met Kevin's, fear etched on their faces. What was happening to their daughter? According to university policies, when a student is reported missing, the institution typically notifies the student's designated emergency contact within 24 hours. If the student is under 18, the university also notifies their parents or guardians In cases like this, it's standard procedure for the university to get involved, especially if the student is living on campus. The Office for Student Affairs usually coordinates with the university police department and other authorities to ensure the student's safety. Given Ann's situation, her professors and university authorities were asked to work closely with the police to try and locate her. The police officer continued, "We'll need some information from you, like Ann's full name, address, phone number, and a recent photograph. We'll also need to know the circumstances surrounding her disappearance." Nora and Kevin nodded, ready to provide the necessary information. The officer also explained that the police would be investigating Ann's phone records, social media activity, and email accounts to see if they can find any leads. As they finished their statement, the police officer assured them that they would do everything possible to find Ann. Nora and Kevin left the police station, feeling a mix of emotions. They were worried, scared, and hopeful that Ann would be found soon. The search for Ann continues, with her family and the authorities working tirelessly to find her. Nora and Kevin Wilson, Ann's parents, left the police station, their hearts heavy with worry. They had reported Ann missing, and the authorities were doing everything they could to find her. As they drove home in silence, Nora's mind was racing. What could have happened to Ann? She was a responsible girl, always keeping in touch with them. The news report about the series of disappearances across the city kept echoing in her mind. Kevin broke the silence, "We'll find her, Nora. We have to." Nora nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I know, Kevin. I just feel like we're missing something. Did Ann mention anything to you about her plans?" Kevin shook his head. "No, love. She just said she would go to the library from school and then head back home I didn't think much of it at the time." They arrived at their cozy home, a mix of sadness and desperation hanging in the air. Nora went straight to Ann's room, hoping to find some clue. As she went through Ann's things, Kevin's phone rang. It was the police, asking them to come back to the station. They had some questions. Nora's heart skipped a beat. "What is it? Did they find Ann?" The officer's voice was calm, "No, ma'am. We just need some more information from you." Kevin and Nora exchanged worried glances. What were the police not telling them?
