Chapter 22:
The Fire PitMarch 14, 2015, Ritz-Carlton
Three figures sit in the middle of an illusive room, bound to chairs as smoke crawls around a corner. Tara moves toward them and their faces clarify fearfully. Laura sits unconscious and bleeding from the head while a tearful Leanne yells “murderer” at their assailant. Tara touches her body, and instantly, she's bound to the chair. Furiously and swiftly, a man moves toward Leanne. The floors vibrate with his steps. In the distance, a frantic voice screams.
Tara wakes with a deep, loud wheeze, grasping for air. Her heart races and her mind burns with Laura and Leanne strapped to chairs and their assailant's murderous intent. She grabs the pen on the nightstand, captures every dream detail in the journal, and shudders as she writes BLOO
