Chapter Nine "You Mean Everything"

   As we enter the ship, with the main door closing, "Let me go!" He isn't taking my anger seriously, but now that I think about it, he never really has taken me seriously. The doors close, we take flight, the commander still holding onto me as if I will jump out. Why is he taking me away from the city? I was just minding my own business, it's not like I broke any rules. Atleast that I know of, I made sure to study the city's policies to stay under the radar of the commander. I knew he let me go because he became too busy so I decided that I would do my best to avoid his attention, yet he still kept up on my information, my job, my home. I wish these mixed feelings about him would make sense, "Commander, please let me go." I say calmly now. I prop myself up with my arms on his shoulder to look at him, he just slightly turns his head to me, "When we reach port." Port? Why the main ship? He holds a strong grip on my waist, ugh! This is embarrassing with all of these soldiers and the captain standing behind him, probably watching me fight with him. 

   After a bit, we arrive at the main ship. The Commander first to depart with me in tow, while I just put my hand on my chin, and deal with him carrying me away like a spoiled child. When we reach his private quarters, he takes me to his room. It's quite dark, the only light coming in is from the window overlooking the city I live. All there is in this room is what I guess what would be a bed-type-thingy? I don't know, I think to myself. He sets me down on this bed, since it is big enough to fit him I will assume so. I jump off right away, and run to the door that's still open. With his size, his stride was too fast for me so he beat me to it and locked the door, "What're you getting at locking me in here!?" Backing away from him, I don't know his deal lately. 

   "Commander, Why?"

   He is silent, slowly turning away from the door. quietly walking towards me, "Sky, I do not trust others near you."

   "But why, I lived peacefully this entire time with no problems to you." 

   He continues to look at me without saying anything, I keep moving away from him little by little. Taking notice of my movements, he grows suspicious, "Sky do not move away." How can I not? He is unpredictable right now and I want answers before I let him come near me. "I don't trust you, you took me away from my home." He let's out a deep hum-like growl, moving to me with an assertive stride. Grabbing my waist again, attempting to pick me up. I hit his arms, though his armor prevents me making any kind of point, I try pushing him away by lifting my legs to kick him all over. 

   "I am protecting you!" he growls angrily while getting a better hold of me.

   "I don't need your protection anymore!" He lifts me up again to put me back on his sleep area, squeezing me a little tighter as I'm kicking, and pushing him.

   "Enough Sky!" He sets me back down again, I quickly back up against the wall.

   "Then tell me why I am here!" I hold my hand in a fist against my chest trying not to get emotional.

   He sits down near me, "You mean everything.....to me." I stare at him in silence, if I truly meant something to him then he would let me be on my own.

   "You mean everything to me too, but I know to leave you on your own."

   "I need to protect you, from everyone, everything."

   "Then why did you let me go?"

   "Mistake, I know now."

   "Help me understand you." I say to him in a soft voice, maybe if I show I calmed down then he would let me go again.

   "You will stay here....with me." He gets up and walks back a few steps, doing something to his suit.

   "Commander? What're you doing?"

   "Will show you who I really am." I hear clicking sounds coming from his suit.

   "Who you are?"....."What you look like?" No one has ever seen them without suits, What do they look like? Now I'm getting more nervous.

   He stays silent while adjusting his suit, then his arm coverings come off. What I first notice is his skin is as white as paper, then I notice he has large, dark colored claw-type nails. He has fingers like us humans, five of them. My nervousness is turning into fear staring at his huge arms, then I see him taking off his chest, and back plate. Why is he taking off his armor? Also, why is his body so human-like? Is this why they came to earth, because of the similarities we share? But that contradicts what they do to us, and what we mean to them. He takes off his helmet next, I immediately notice his eyes. Then he takes off his leg armor, then he comes closer. His face being mere inches from my own, I look up into his deep red eyes that have a purplish hue. I look down to his his mouth slightly open revealing his teeth, rows of really sharp, fine pointed teeth. I can't stop my hands from shaking as I slowly reach up to touch his teeth, "You are truly dangerous." He squints his eyes at my remark, opening his mouth a little more to let me feel his teeth. He's not moving a muscle as I glide my finger on one of his teeth, we're both quietly breathing looking at each other. I look down at the rest of his body, making out strange markings running down from his head all the way down to his thighs. I move my hands to feel his face, thinking that if I was blind and touching his face then I would be convinced that I was touching another human. "I feel like I should be afraid of you." He stares at me intently, then closes the distance between us by placing his forehead on mine. I remember he used to do this as our goodbye, or does it mean more to him? I try to move away from him, but realize that I'm pushed against the wall, I move to the side to be at a comfortable distance. He let's out another low growl, and follows my movements, then he grabs me again pulling me closer to him. "What are you doin-" Before I can finish saying anything, he presses me to his chest, and wraps his arms around me. My arms are placed against his chest, along with my head. We stay like this for a long while, I almost think he's asleep but when I look up to see him, he is silently watching me. 

   After a while he allows me to move into a more comfortable position, he's sitting with his legs open, and I'm between his sitting with my legs crossed, with my knees propped on his thighs since he keeps scooting me closer to him like I'll run away any moment. His whole body covers mine when he wraps his arms around me again, resting his head on mine. All that time sitting here with him, I explore his body, from touching to looking at every detail, almost like looking at artwork. I touch the markings on him, trailing them up and down, as he calmly watches with interest. I also noticed that he hasn't spoken since he took off his suit, "Commander, can you say something?" But he shakes his head then turns to look at his suit, then back at me. "I see." He has a translator in his suit. Getting comfortable with his warmth, and after everything that happened, tiredness took over, and I ended up falling asleep in his hold. 

   Slowly opening my eyes, waking up to see the commander not in the room. So I sit up to stretch, and see if I can leave too. I don't have any of my belongings here to change clothes or wash up. I walk up to the door, and it opens so I walk out of the room. "I wonder if the other door will open too?" I walk to that one next, then it also opens for me. Seeing the main hall packed with soldiers walking about, but not seeing the commander anywhere. I walk out and see if I remember where the rec room is to get something to eat, as I'm walking down the hall, I notice soldiers walking in front of me but also behind me. They don't do anything, but keeping a uniformed distance between me and them. 

   I get to the rec room, and the soldiers dispatch else where. "An escort huh." I look around to see if there's a place by the window to look out, "Sky?!" That voice, "Sarah!" We run to, and wrap each other in a bear hug. It's been months since the captain took her, And she also looks better than ever. "Oh my goodness! how is everything?" Before I can answer her, Sarah continues asking her questions without stopping to take a breath. *Gasp* "Okay! Now you can answer all the questions." I laugh, and begin telling her what she's missed out on. All the way up to being chased around the city, then captured by the commander. "Yeah we heard the commander, and the captain pass by the other day, in a hurry I heard the commander yell, "I will bring her back to me!" 

   "I feel like he doesn't trust other people around me."

   "But we were around you for years now, why would he have a problem now Sky?" She's right, he never showed anger at my friends.

   "He thinks I was at risk of being influenced by rebels."

   "Rebels? There's no concern for a rebellion there, we have it good in that city."

   "I am just confused as to why he would go through so much trouble to keep me by him."

   "Sky, don't put too much thought into the commander, just make your point on wanting to go back, I'm sure he'll cave eventually."

   We talk the rest of the time about each other's new happenings, until the captain comes to take Sarah. Little by little other pets leave with their owners, but I stay behind, I want to be alone for a while longer. "He means everything to me too, but I....like the life I built in the city." Crossing my arms on the table, then resting my head on them, gazing out at the vast land below. "I want to see him all the time, after seeing him with out his armor, I feel more connected to him." I just don't want to be torn by not having a choice on where I live, or who I choose. I end up falling asleep again, "Sky...." Is someone calling me? "Hmm?..."

   "Sky...Let's go."

   "......Go?....." I'm too tired to open my eyes, so I mumble my words to whom ever that is.

   This sweet smell, it's the commander. He's adjusting my body to carry me, I don't fight him though. I don't want to fight anymore, I don't want to be angry at him anymore, I only want to stay by his side. After a short time, he lays me down, then after a bit I feel him laying beside me. Wrapping me in his arms, "Your....warm, it's nice." I relax and fall into a deep slumber.

   After A few days of spending time with the commander, it must have relaxed his trust in me. Although he put his collar back on me, he let me return to the city today. Under the new rules he set for me, which is no disobeying him again, no staying out after sunset, and the hardest for me is that I can't be around Jason and the crew anymore. He made it clear these last few days that he despises him, and his followers, along with their beliefs. Apparently the commander had a scout follow my every move since he released me to the city. I will follow his rules because I don't want him to worry, but also I want to gain his trust that I don't need to be followed around. Now I will be on way back to the city, and Sarah will join me on the captain's orders to keep me from my "worse impulses." As we all board a ship to depart for the city, I stay beside the commander, I will cherish all of these moments. Staring out the window watching the land pass by quickly, I break gaze from the window to look at the inside of the ship. As I'm looking around, I just happened to let my eyes pass to the captain. I notice he's looking towards me, is he watching me? I keep my eyes on him for a few seconds, then he looks away keeping his head low. Okayy then, I look away too. 

   We land near the apartment, and we all walk out of the ship to stand in front of the building. The captain takes Sarah's collar off, she then walks to stand near the stairway. "Sky." I look up to the commander.

   "Yes?"

   "You will keep your collar on for your safety, and a reminder of my rules." Like I'll let myself forget. 

   "Yes Commander." He kneels down to touch his head to my forehead, as always without thinking I reach my hands up to feel for his face, forgetting he has his helmet on. We stay like this until the captain mentions the time, we break apart, and I walk up to our apartment. "Sky, you and the commander have gotten rather close these last few days huh." She says as she nudges me with her elbow, "Well, we mean everything to each other, so I want to respect that." She then gives me this blushing glance, "Sky, I am assigned to watch over you in their place, but I want to know everything that happened between you two!" I guess I kind of figured she noticed the aura between me and the commander. "Okay, okay let's get settled in the apartment first." We giggle at each other, then surprise our dear friends.

   "Oh my god! Oh my god!" Is all David could say while running to hug us.

   "You guys were let go?!" Kana says in shock.

   "Yeah, we reached an agreement with the commander." Sarah practically yells while she's happy-crying.

   "Sky? With what everyone was saying, we thought you committed a crime!"

   "No, the commander was just worried about me, and I didn't agree with his tactics of worrying."

   "Ah, well.....Even Jason was super worried that the commander punished you for nothing, he was furious when you were captured."

   "Oh.....How is Jason?" Sarah quickly glances at me, I look back at her letting her know not to worry too much.

   "Oh he's fine physically, but I think you should go see him to let him know you're okay."

   "I.....I can't.....I came back with rules I need to follow." They stare at dumbfounded.

   "What rules, wait why do you have your collar back on?" They come closer with concerned looks.

   "The Commander, we care about each other so he wanted to make sure I will be safe, so he gave me rules to make sure we can trust each other."

   "Okay.....What're they?"

   "Sky can't see Jason, or the crew, and she's not allowed to be outside after sunset, and she will not disobey her master anymore." Sarah says this with a stern voice while looking back and forth at all of us.

   "Oh.....Wow, Sky how do you feel about these rules." Kana says with sympathy.

   "Well, I don't really have negative feelings about them, just that I want to do my best to gain the commanders' trust in me." I say with a soft, pleased tone in my voice. 

   "What's this? Sky actually listening to the commander?" David jokingly says while walking around me.

   "Well.....yes, I connected to the commander a lot these past several days, and I want to do my best to please him. But not in that sense!" I hold my hands up waving them, as I see the three of them grinning like idiots.

   "Is Sky okay? It seems like you're fawning over your master!" Kana teases as she gets close to my face, as I begin blushing from this sudden atmosphere I put myself into.

   "Alright, alright.....Let's let Sky be for now, we both need to adjust to normal living again." As she playfully nudges my shoulder.

   "Sarahhh!.....not you too!" I whine playing along with them, It's relaxing to have these three goof balls back.

   We talk, and they finally allow my to share a drink with them now that I'm eighteen. But to my dismay, they only let me have one beer. We talk and enjoy our night, "So Sky, I wanted to ask you since you became rather friendly with the commander." Sarah says with a skeptical look on her sauced face, "Okay Sarah, hit me with your ever important question." I say with sass. "Alrighty then, did you see the commander without his suit on?" I instantly spit out my mouth full of beer, and choke on it like I was breaching the water from drowning. "W-What?!" I say studdering to catch my breath and words, as the other two gasp with shock. "You heard me miss Sky, did you see the Commander. Without. His. Suit. On?" I look at all three of them as they silently wait for my answer, not moving a muscle. "Well....I don't want to lie to you guys, so......Y-Yes." They gasp again shooting back against their seats, "What?!" David yells, "No way! Did you really?!" Kana standing up pacing around the table. "Really Sky?! Details! Now!" Sarah says while shaking me by my shoulders, and here I am blushing as red as a tomato, "Well, for my master's privacy, all I'll tell you is that he is beautiful!" They immediately yell out indecipherable words amongst themselves, I just put my face in my hands to hide my face from turning any redder. "Okay! I think I sobered up from this shock! Give me another drink!" They all sit back down and stare at me, "So Sky.....What'd you do when the commander revealed himself to you?" Kana asks as she pours herself a stronger drink, "At first I was shocked that he was doing it in the first place, but when I saw all of him I only grew more fond of him for trusting me enough to do that for me." They glance at each other, smirking, like they know something I don't. "So.....Our little Sky Sky is finally a woman." David says crossing his arms. "What, what do you mean by that?" I don't understand his dry sarcasm, "Sky, what we're saying is, the commander made you into a woman." They start giggling with their drunken nonsense. "What?! It's not like that! I respect our relationship!" Sarah now sauced again pats my shoulder, "Sky, we're just teasing you!....The fact that one of them, but the Commander nonetheless revealed himself to a human, but not just any human, you. We think there's more to this then just master, and pet." I mean Sarah does make sense, and I did question it, but I decided to let it go and just be happy he trusted me enough to show me his true self. "Well.....I'm just happy he trusted me enough to show himself, and...And I'm going bed, good night!" With that I took of into my room because I couldn't get rid of my blush that seemed to not leave my face at all. 

   Burying my face in my pillow, I think about the commander. About what Sarah said, I'm pretty sure it's completely innocent with the commander. Then I think about his large, powerful, muscled body. "AAHh! Stop thinking like that Sky!" I yell muffling into my pillow so they don't hear me, I can't let these feelings grow at all. It just doesn't make sense, their kind and humans. It would cause a problem among both societies. I take a cold shower to get rid of these thoughts, then go to bed.
