"You said the boy was loyal, you had him under control," the head of the hunters Council Richard snapped angrily over the phone. The sound of his voice echoed in my ears, tinged with frustration and disappointment.
"You are to capture Clay at all costs," Richard continued, his voice becoming more authoritative. "I let you handle him your way and you failed. Now we are doing things my way." His words wrapped around me like a suffocating blanket, filling the room with a sense of urgency.
"If you want to redeem your name, the Lycan princess and Clay will be captured immediately," he ordered, his words piercing through the silence. The weight of his demand settled heavily upon my shoulders, causing a knot of anxiety to form in my stomach.
