Chapter five: Celeste...... back off

513 Words
Chapter Five I wandered around the garden, trying to get something straight. What if Adrian used protection? What if the child belongs to Celeste? Or what if he didn't? I had many questions going through my head, and all I needed right now was answers from Adrian. The puzzle of that night still remained unsolved: how did I end up like this? My life was in a very big mess right now, but what if the child belonged to Adrian? My family and the Blackwoods would definitely take a chance to eliminate my unborn child, and I wasn't going to let that happen. Not in this life, not in the next. I laid my hand flat across my belly. I had no one else to speak to other than my best friend, Evelyn, but she wasn't in town. I walked back to my room. I dared not go to Celeste's room; he was currently very furious. I remembered taking the contraceptive after he left the room, but not right after I finished eating. Maybe I'd actually made a mistake by not taking it directly after breakfast. * * * It had been three days since I heard the pregnancy exclamation from Celeste. I knew he wasn't ready to face me, so I maintained my lane and didn't attempt to confront him. His words played back in my head: Whose child is it? I remembered the way he had looked at me with hate and disgust, as if I'd done something he was never going to forgive me for in his lifetime. * * * It was past 8 p.m. when a sharp knock landed on the door and it cracked open. Celeste. His eyes swept across the room and stopped at me. "You still haven't told me who the child belongs to, Anna," he said with an angry sneer. Some time ago, he would have called me by my sobriquet, Pearl, but now he was calling me by name, which made things even worse. "How do you expect me to know, Celeste?" I replied, trying hard to conceal my fear. Celeste could be shifty when angry; he could also be crazy. He brought out a red tablet. "Take this and get rid of that thing you call pregnancy," he ordered, stretching out his arms further. "No, I'm not aborting my unborn child!" I yelled. "You sure?" he asked calmly, which meant danger. "Yes, I am sure," I replied sharply, not hesitating. "Don't let me force this down your throat," he said, moving towards me. I stepped back, making sure he didn't get hold of me. "Celeste... back off," I smirked. He walked towards me, closing the gap between us. I could smell his scent; he smelled like lavender. He grabbed my neck and pulled me up, leaving me hanging. "Ung... ung," I struggled to say, and to breathe. He tightened his grip on my neck. "Follow my orders," he warned fiercely, and dropped me to the floor, leaving the abortion pills beside me. He walked towards the door, turned once more, then left.
