Chapter 4

Adrian stood there, confused as ever. “Earth to Amelia. You look like someone who's seen a ghost!” He said, letting out a bark of laughter. Amelia regained her composure and grinned. “I-I was wondering if it was a package delivered to the wrong desk. You brought me flowers?” Adrian chuckled and handed her an Americano coffee. “And coffee. I know how exhausting it is to work with my brother. I'm surprised you haven't even handed in your resignation letter.” Amelia laughed along with him, feeling a bit better. Adrian had been coming over frequently and they were on a hi-hi basis. He was cool. “Thank you, Adrian. I appreciate you. Speaking of your brother, I have files to arrange alphabetically. Should I call him to let him know you are here?” “No, I came here to see you. Not him.” Amelia c****d an eyebrow. “Me? Is anything the matter?” “No, I thought about you this morning and decided to get you flowers. I came to see how you were faring like I said.” Amelia blushed. “Thank you, Adrian. This gesture means a lot but you honestly didn't have to.” “I wanted to, Amelia. I have a shoot today. Would you like to hang out with me after my shoot? I’m sure you’d be done with work by then.” “Hang out? Where?” “Anywhere you want. We could even see a movie.” “Is this a date?” Amelia asked, smirking. “Anything you wanna call it, Amelia. Let’s exchange numbers. I will text you when I'm done with the shoot.” Amelia felt reluctant but gave him her number. He didn't sound like he meant any harm anyway. ************************************ Alessandro could see them, talking and laughing like they were old friends. He even saw her hold flowers. Flowers?! The instinct to go to them and put the flowers in the trash was overwhelming but he wasn't the one to lose control. So, he tried to focus the entirety of his attention on work but his mind kept wandering to Amelia. He shouldn't have hired her because he now always had a b***r at work. Whenever she came into his office, talking about work and sashayed away, all he wanted was to bend her over his desk and make her scream his name instead. How long could he handle this torture? He watched Adrian leave and he repressed the urge to go after him and throttle his neck. Bringing her flowers at work? Cheap shot. He convinced himself that he didn’t care and wore back his facade as Amelia came in with the files, looking brighter. He felt a pang in his chest, knowing why she felt that way. He told her to drop the files and leave. Amelia, relieved he didn't tell her to do something else, left. She got to her desk, took a picture with the flowers, and sent them to Maya. In no time, Maya replied, “NO FUCKINGGGG WAYYY, you have been seeing someone and you didn't tell me??? I feel betrayed. OMG, they are gorgeous.” Amelia smiled, “No, I am not seeing anyone, psycho. My boss’s brother brought them for me and I know it sounds weird. But yeah, he did and even brought me coffee.” Maya replied, “I am so confused but you must give me the DEETS later. My boss can't catch me texting.” Amelia smiled and dropped her phone too. A second later, a message came from Adrian about their movie date. She wondered if she should go because somehow, she felt like she was betraying Alessandro again. But then a thought popped up in her head, that man was literally ignoring her. She was not doing anything wrong. She replied to Adrian’s chat, telling him she’d be available. “Is this what I employed you for?” Amelia’s head snapped up nervously and her eyes located Alessandro standing right in front of her desk. His face had a scowl on it and she knew she was in trouble. “Huh, sorry, Sir. I was texting my friend.” “I employed you to text your friend during work hours? Are you listening to yourself, Amelia Hills?” Alessandro bellowed, his ocean-blue eyes growing dark. “I'm sorry, Sir. It wouldn't happen again.” Amelia replied, with a small voice. She looked like she was about to cry. Alessandro felt so guilty at that moment and just strode back into his office. He felt terrible. He never felt like this when he chastised his workers. Why did he feel so differently towards Amelia? Amelia sighed, it was official. Her boss hated her and she didn't know why. She focused her attention back to work. *************************** Amelia got home, freshened up, and got ready for the movie with Adrian. She picked out a cropped sweater, shorts, and sandals. She liked being simple, she wore whatever made her feel comfortable. She intentionally didn't give him her address because she didn't want to get that personal with him. They were friends and that was okay. She took an Uber to the address he sent to her. Adrian’s Ferrari was parked out front. Immediately he saw her, he got out of his car and waved his driver off, walking towards her. “Hi, beautiful. You look even better out of your work clothes. How are you?” Amelia rolled her eyes. “You are just saying that to make me smile. You are literally wearing a suit, I feel so underdressed, and thank you, I am alright.” Adrian smiled and led the way into the building. There were greetings left and right, he was obviously a regular. It was a private cinema. They were escorted into the VIP. They settled down and Amelia looked around, noting they were the only ones in there. “I thought we were going to a normal cinema. Why a private cinema?” Adrian chuckled and leaned into her, looking straight into her eyes. “I wanted you to be comfortable and I wanted to enjoy the movie with you without interruptions. Do you not like it?” Amelia, feeling a little bit hot, mumbled. “It’s fine.” Adrian smirked and settled back in his seat, as they wheeled in loads of refreshments. The movie was about to start. Adrian’s phone started to ring and looking at the name flashing on the screen, he grinned. He picked up. “Hello, Alessandro.” Amelia’s ears became more alert but she tried to focus on the screen. “Oh, I’m not home right now, I'm out seeing a movie with my date, Amelia. I will send the information tomorrow.” The line went silent. Amelia felt culpable. Why did she feel guilty? She didn't even owe this man anything. There's nothing between them for chrissakes. She shouldn't feel like s**t. “Adrian, make sure the information doesn't exceed tomorrow, thanks.” And the line went dead. Amelia focused on the movie and paid Adrian no mind. She didn't know why he had to even tell Alessandro that unnecessary piece of information in the first place. They watched the movie in silence. When the movie was over, he thanked her for hanging out with him and she booked her Uber back home. When she got home, she felt like Adrian was trying to use her to get to Alessandro. She decided to talk to her best friend about it. Maya picked on the first ring. “Hey, Maya. I need your advice. So, you remember my boss, Alessandro. He has a younger brother, I think he's using me to get on Alessandro’s nerves but he's really nice to me. He even took me to a private cinema today, I just don't know what to think.” “Isn't your boss the one that acts like you don't exist apart from when he wants you to do something work-related? Are you really asking me this question? Because my answer would be you focusing on the younger brother who has the hots for you, duh!” “Tsk, you are right. A part of me feels he remembers me from the club though.” “Even if he does, it doesn't mean anything to him because he didn't even approach you about it. You should act accordingly.” Amelia sighed and rolled her eyes. For the first time, she couldn't even argue with Maya. Adrian was actually attentive to her, even as a friend. Alessandro didn't even talk to her unless it was necessary. She wasn't gonna force anything. ************************** Alessandro stared at his phone. Adrian was on a date with Amelia. He shouldn't care but he f*****g did. He hadn’t shown any bit of interest in Amelia. Did Adrian really like her or was he just taunting him? Was this a game? He massaged his temples with his long and lean fingers and poured himself some brandy. He needed something strong. He took a fast swig. He called one of his trysts to come over. The NDA contract with her was still valid for a month. Immediately she came over, she knew what to do. Cara was one of his best trysts. She understood the boundaries. No touching him and no kisses. Just hard, raw f*****g and they went their separate ways. She stripped and crawled to him, unbuttoning his slacks. Yes, he needed this distraction. He grabbed a handful of her hair and forced her throat down his c**k. Amelia’s face popped up in his head. He jerked her face off his c**k, and told her to get dressed and leave. She looked very confused but she didn't ask any questions; she knew better than to ask any. She dressed up and left. Alessandro took another swig of brandy and accepted there was no turning back. He got it bad for Amelia Hills and he was gonna let her know he remembered every single detail of what happened at the club tomorrow and if she did not, he’d make her remember. Either way, Amelia Hills was his and he played for keeps.
