The MSI just concluded that means they were given a week to rest and the person I saw was really Geon-bu.
I walked in to the building and went to the elevator. It was already going up. It was a relief that I didn’t met him in the elevator. It would have been suffocating.
I pressed the button going up and waited for it to come back down. When it opened, I got in and press the 10th floor. Geon-bu lives a floor above mine. We wouldn’t be bumping into each other that much, I hope.
I was alone inside the elevator and so I got to my floor quickly. As it dings, the elevator door opened and I walked into my unit or our family’s unit. My parents were inside and I planned to surprised them. They thought it would take another week for my return.
I knocked on the door and couldn’t help my smile from forming. I missed my family and it has been a while since I saw them. Last winter they visited me in California. It was already May so I was very excited to see them again.
The door opened and I shouted, “Surprised!”. My mother who opened the door was clearly suprise to see me. She opened the door widely and hugged me.
“Oh my god! Mina! You said you’ll be home next week.” She said.
“I wanted to surprise you.” I answered as I hugged her back.
My father who must’ve heard the commution also came out. When he saw us hugging, he faked a cough to interrupt us.
“Come in.” He said. My father was the reserved type so he doesn’t do much physical touch. But its my love language so I went to my father to give him a hug.
“I missed you too.” I said smiling while squeezing him in a hug. He returned the hug and patted my back.
“Welcome home.” I closed my eyes and felt those words. Indeed I was home.
We went inside and my mother was making a fuss over me. Asking if I had eaten or if was tired. I told her I was fine and will retire early for the night and rest in my room.
She accompanied me to my room and opened the door.
“Good thing I already cleaned your room earlier today.” She said as she walks to my bed and patted it.
“I’ll leave you to rest now, see you at breakfast.” She walks toward me and patted my arms. She went out and closed the door of my room.
I took a shower and laid down in my bed. But sleep didn’t come right away. The thought about seeing Geon-bu earlier kept me up.
What should I do if end up bumping into him face to face? Should I just not go out?
No, it would be fine, I told myself that. Our body clocks were different. He would probably go out at night and I would go out at morning. Tonight was just a coincidence and probably won’t happen again. I nodded to myself and drift off to sleep.
I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep right away because of jet lag but seeing Geon-bu must’ve really rattled me.
I woke up around 7am and the sun was already shining. I planned to rest for day to recover from my jet lag. I went to the bathroom to freshen up and went out of my room.
My mom was preparing breakfast. She was setting up the table for two.
“Good morning.” I greeted as I walked toward her.
“Is dad still asleep?” I asked her.
“Your dad left thirty minutes ago as he have an out of town business trip. He just packed some coffee and toast. Sit down and eat.”
I sat down and looked at the food she prepared. This was one of the things I missed, home made foods. I barely ate at home when I was in California. I would usually just eat outside so I could sleep right away when I get back home. In front of me there was steamed egg, rice, sausage, and seaweed soup.
“Thank you for the food.”
My mom sat down as well and we ate silently. We were the type of family that doesn’t talk much when eating. I picked up my spoon and drank some of the soup. It tasted really delicious. Next I tried the eggs and next thing I knew already finished my bowl of rice.
After breakfast, I just sat down in the living room while scrolling through my phone. My mom went out of their room looking ready to go out.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to the market. I need to buy some things. Do you want to come with me?”
I scrunched my nose and declined her offer. I was still not in my good condition and I might end up just urging her to go home quickly.
She went out and I was left alone at home. I opened my socials and it was once again confirmed that LoL players were indeed taking a break currently.
I rested me head on the back of the sofa and covered my eyes with my arms. I felt like my head was gonna burst from all the thoughts that was going through it. I wanted to see him but I didn’t know how I would act around him.
I removed my arms from my eyes and thought back to the last time we saw each other. It was winter. We were wearing puff jackets that we bought together. I had a white one and he had a black one. We made a promise that night, I hope he still remembers it. I sighed as I remember about the promise.
