“Hello.” I said to try to break the ice. He just nodded his head.
“Where are you going?” I asked even though I already have a hunched that he is going back to his team’s headquarters.
“I’m going back to the dorm. We will be starting our training.” I nodded at his answer.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“I ws going to buy some tteokbokki.”
“Lets go.” He turned to walk to where the nearest tteokbokkie store is.
I catched up to him to stop him from going. I grabbed the end of his t-shirt.
“What are you doing?” I asked while letting go of his shirt.
“I’ll go with you.”
“You’re supposed to be waiting for your pick up though.”
“Its okay, I’ll just text them to wait a minute.” After saying that he continued walking to the store.
I was very confused about the whole situation.
‘Why is he going with me? Does he want to eat some tteokbokki too?’
We got in the store and he opened the door for me. I went to order some for take out. In the end, I didn’t order for him since he was going to leave anyways. After paying and receiving my order, we walked back silently to the apartment.
There was a black car parked near the entrance. I turned to him to asked him if it was his ride. Before I could ask he already had the answer.
“That’s my ride. I have to go.”
I nodded my head and watched him go to the car. Before opening the car door, he looked at me again.
“Mina, see you at LoL Park.” Then he went inside.
My eyes widened by what he said.
What did he just say? Was that an invitation to go and watch him play?
The car drove away and I was still rooted at my place. The season start in two weeks. Should I go?
After gathering my thought, I finally had the energy to go home. When I was preparing the tteokbokki to eat it, I remembered the way he silently walk with me to buy it. I bit my chopsticks and pondered again on the last thing he said before he got in the car.
That night sleep didn’t come easily to me. I kept tossing on my bed, replaying the scenes that happened that night.
The next morning it was still in my mind. I sighed and took a shower hoping to shake it off. But it still lingered on my mind.
I went out of my room to have some breakfast. My mother wasn’t home and she just left a note on the fridge saying se would be back before dinner. My mother’s absence made it even more harder to shake the memory of last night.
I just sighed and made myself some toast. While eating, I opened my phone and just watched some videos to distract my self.
The weekend rolled in faster than I thought and it was already Monday. I woke up early to avoid the traffic because I didn’t want to be late on my first day.
I got to the office 15 minutes earlier. I went to the Architect department to report for my first day. I would be working as an assistant for Architect Lim.
The Architect Department was located on the 4th floor of the building. I got there and look for Architect Lim’s office. It was easy to find since there were only two offices and outside were mostly cubicles. One of the offices belong to Architect Lim and the other one belongs to Architect Brook.
I knocked on Architect Lim’s office.
“Come in.” Said the voice inside. It sounded like a woman’s voice.
I opened the door. She was standing beside her table while holding some papers. She looked at me and raised a brow.
“Good morning, I am Mina Choi and I will be your Assistant starting today.”
“Right, HR told me about you.”
She walked towards me and handed the papers she was holding.
“This are the items I need for my new project. Make list that shows the different prices of each and the store where it is available.”
I reveived the papers from her and nodded my head.
“Have it ready within the week. You can go. You r cubicle is the nearesg to my office.”
“Yes, ma’am.” I went out of her office and went to my cubicle. There was only a computer on the table and a swivel chair. I would personalize it later on but for now I have to start on the task given to me.
Time went by quickly and it was already time to clock out. Thankfully, I made some progress on my task. I turned the computer off and gathered my things in preparation to go home. I didn’t get to even talk to my other colleagues because I was so focused on my task. It was just my first day but things were already hectic for me.
I went to the bus stop to go home. After 5 minutes, it arrived and there were a lot of people inside since it was the time when office workers get off work and students go home as well. I went inside even though there were no seats available so I just stood up and hold on to the pole near the door of the bus.
In front of me there were two students, a boy and a girl. They were wearing a middle school uniformS. They were bantering about ice cream flavors. The girl likes mint chocolate and the boy was making faces to express his dislike for the flavor.
I smiled to myself as I remember the time when I was in middle school. I also used to take a bus to go home. There were times when I would go home alone but the most memorable one was going home with Geonbu.
