As Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was fleeing Tunisia on his plane, searching for a country to take him in, I was writing my first article: ‘The Time Has Come for Yemen’s Tyrant to Depart’. The moment I finished it, I sent it to a long list of editors and contacts.
Not a single Arab newspaper agreed to publish it. It was ahead of its time.
It was rejected by print newspapers for days, until an online newspaper agreed to publish it, at the end of January 2011. I’ll always be thankful to the editor: S.S.
