THE ABYSS AWAKENS
The roar that erupted from the Emerald Caves was unlike any sound born of the living world.
It was not a scream.
Nor was it the rumble of an earthquake.
It was something far older, something primordial, as though the mountain itself had just opened its eyes.
The black basin churned violently. Thick waves of liquid silver crashed against the stone rim, sending metallic sparks dancing across the circular chamber. Ancient runes carved into the floor pulsed with a sickly glow, shifting between emerald green and molten silver.
Ian still held Mia in his arms.
He could feel the faint rhythm of her heartbeat against his chest, weak, but alive.
